Asset Management

GoldenTree Asset Management has appointed Kevin Child as a Managing Director. He moves from JP Morgan’s EMEA leveraged finance team.


Paula Kelley has been appointed as Chief Marketing Officer at Dreyfus. The position which is new will see Ms. Kelley lead marketing for their North American businesses. Reporting to CEO Mark Santero, she will be responsible for building marketing and digital capabilities and driving a brand strategy, with the aim of engaging clients and deepening relationships with them.


Aberdeen Asset Management has confirmed that Paul Mehta will head up their new loan platform from July. As Global Head of Loans he will be London-based and report to Steve Logan, Global Head of High Yield.


Julian Brown has been named Director of Russell Investments  UK consultant relations team. He moves from his position as Head of Consultant Relations at BlackRock Inc. He will now be based in London and report to Jim Leggate, Head of UK Institutional and Middle East businesses.


PineBridge Investments has announced the appointment of Alain Meyer as the firm’s Head of Switzerland and Austria. Mr. Meyer will oversee their expansion into the Swiss institutional and intermediaries market and the opening of a new Zurich office this year. He moves from Aviva Investors, where he was Head of Institutional Sales.


Steve Weeple has been hired by Henderson Global Investors as a Portfolio Manager on their Global Growth Equities team, led by Ian Warmerdam.


Lombard Odier IM has announced the hire of Jonathan Clenshaw as Head of Institutional Sales for Europe. Mr. Clenshaw will be based in London, and becomes responsible for distribution and services to institutional customers in Europe. He will join Lombard Odier IM on 1 July and will report to Carolina Minio-Paluello, Global Head of Sales and Solutions.


Sonja Laud from Baring Asset Management has been appointed Head of Equity at Fidelity International. The position is new. Ms Laud will be responsible for overseeing the equity income team and will report to Paras Anand, CIO equities, Europe.


 Back / Middle Office

Grant Parkinson has been appointed chief operating officer at Brewin Dolphin. He joins from Coutts where he has been since 2012. He will report to CEO David Nicol, and also joins the executive committee. Mr. Parkinson will start in August.


Hedge Funds

Michael Petry, Head of Hedge Funds, has been named Lead Manager on Danske Invest’s Europe-focused absolute return fund. Mr. Petry who has been with Danske for six years, took over the role from co-Managers Klaus Röpke and Jens Wiberg Larsson.


IBD / Capital Markets

Asian global investment bank, Nomura, has appointed Alberto Ardura as a Managing Director and Head of Latin America Sales and Client Coverage for its Emerging Markets business. Mr. Ardura’s responsibility will include sales and the overall coverage of the firm’s Global Markets clients based in Latin America. He joins from Deutsche Bank where he was a Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Corporate Finance Latin America.


Standard Chartered has confirmed 10 new hires to its credit solutions team as part of their strategy to extend capabilities in Financial Markets. The appointments include appointments in key markets of Singapore and Hong Kong, London and New York.

 Panai Avasadanond has been named as an Executive Director for the Loans and Special Situations team (LSS). He moves from Morgan Stanley. Sandeep Saboo is now a Director of the LSS team. Gerald Ng also becomes a Director in the LSS unit.

In Singapore, Cedric Florens, previously Fixed Income Director at Credit Suisse joins the investment products team.

Robert McGinley, of JP Morgan, has been named as Head of Flow Credit Trading Asia, in Hong Kong, while Zhu Ning and Sean Kim join the Hong Kong LSS team as Directors. Hiroyuki Wakimoto has joined as a Director, based in Hong Kong, to focus on offshore renminbi credit trading.


Insurance

Gustaf Kristiansson, has been confirmed as Marine Underwriter by Markel International Singapore, a unit of U.S.-based Markel Corp. He moves from their Swedish office where he held the same position. He will report to Matt Cannock, principal officer and managing director of Markel International Singapore.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

Michael Miremadi, Christopher Heintz and Teresa Uzeta, a Merrill Lynch team that oversaw $200 million in client assets, has been hired by UBS. This hire follows the Swiss firm’s selective approach to recruitment and a focus on advisers who serve the wealthy and ultra-wealthy.


Chris Gaertner, previously Managing Director at Bank of America, has been named to lead the launch of Rothschild Global Advisory’s new office in San Francisco Bay. Walid Khiari, formerly from Credit Suisse joins him as a Managing Director on its Technology team. The new office is the seventh Rothschild office in North America, and their second to open in a year.


Sanctum Wealth Management (India) has added Satwick Tandon to its management team. Reporting to Sanctum’s chief executive, Shiv Gupta, Tandon becomes Executive Director responsible for developing international strategy. 


Silvan Wyss has been appointed to replace Fabian Dufresne who has announced his retirement. Syz, formerly of Credit Suisse becomes new Head of Wealth Management. Wyss will focus on development of the business in Switzerland, and accelerating the expansion strategy for private banking in Latin America and Africa. 


Bonhote has hired Gerard Sanz, to expand their sales in the Swiss-German market. Sanz is a specialist in distribution and portfolio management with more than 20 years’ experience in hedge funds.


Niels Schiander has been appointed Head of Corporate Finance and Capital Markets in Denmark by Colliers International Group Inc. Mr. Schiander who joins Colliers from EY Mergers & Acquisitions, will be based in Copenhagen.


Generali Real Estate has confirmed Aldo Mazzocco as new CEO and general manager. He moves from Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, where he was Head of Real Estate.
