Seth Bernstein has been announced as the replacement for Peter Kraus, as President and CEO of AllianceBernstein (AB). He was Managing Director and Global Head of Managed Solutions and Strategy as J.P. Morgan Asset Management until recently. Robert B. Zoellick has also been named as Chairman.

Apollo Global Management has confirmed Joseph K. Azelby’s appointment as Global Head of Real Assets. The position is a new one in which Mr. Azelby will oversee Apollo’s investments in equity real estate and real estate debt, infrastructure and other sectors of real assets. Mr. Azelby retired from his position as Managing Director and CEO of Global Real Assets at J.P. Morgan Asset Management earlier this year.

Matthias Born and Peter Kraus, senior investment professionals, will join Berenberg’s equities division, from Allianz Global Investors, part of the bank’s strategy to expand its asset and wealth management business. Mr. Born becomes Chief Investment Officer and Mr. Kraus takes on the role of head of the small and mid-cap team at Berenberg Wealth and Asset Management.

Jason Chong has been appointed Chief Executive Officer by Manulife Asset Management Services Berhad. Mr. Chong replaces Wong Boon Choy, who retires from the full-time CEO position from May 1st but stays on as advisor.

He will be responsible for overseeing the growth and development of MAMSB’s integrated wealth and asset management business and reports directly to Gianni Fiacco, Asia Wealth and Asset Management Chief Operating Officer and locally to Mark O’Dell, Group CEO and Executive Director.

Artemis Investment Management LLP has announced that Kartik Kumar, who joined Artemis in 2012 and has been an analyst on the £804m Artemis strategic assets fund since 2013, has been promoted to fund manager. The change becomes effective immediately and Kumar will now work alongside alongside William Littlewood, who has managed the fund since its launch in May 2009.

Swiss asset management firm GAM has hired Adam Brown as Global Head of Marketing. He has moved from Columbia Threadneedle and starts at GAM in July. A part of his responsibility will be driving awareness of the GAM brand, as they no longer have the licence to use the Julius Baer trademark to market investment funds.

IBD / Capital Markets

German Commerzbank has appointed Joerg Motel as Country CEO ASEAN and Head Corporates International, in Singapore. Until recently has was Head of Financial Institutions (FI) Sales Asia.

His role as Head of FI Asia and Latin America is filled by Jochen Mueller succeeds Motel as Head of FI Asia and Latin America. Mueller joined Commerzbank in 2011 and was most recently Country Manager U.K. Corporates in the Corporates International division – based in London branch.

 Margaret Kwan Head of Retail and Wealth Management has been announced by Hang Seng Bank as the replacement as Executive Director, taking over from Patrick Chan who resigned from 1 May.

Robert Garrison will join Quantum Energy Partners as a senior advisor and member of their technical committee. He will work with their investment and technical teams to identify and evaluate attractive investment opportunities and will also advise Quantum’s portfolio companies on strategy and execution. With 40 years experience in the executive and operational side of the energy industry he is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on shale gas and tight oil.
