Asset Management

Mary L. Cahill, Emory University’s Vice President of Investments and Chief Investment Officer will retire from the end of July.


Myoun-Wook Kang, South Korea’s National Pension Service’s Chief Investment Officer has resigned seven months prior to his term ending.


Mark Hammonds has been promoted to co-manage Guinness Asset Management Asia Equity Income fund.


Doug Turnbull, formerly of Neptune Investment Management, has been hired by Invesco Perpetual, to work in their emerging markets team.


Fidelity International has recruited Chris Forgan of Henderson Global Investors as co-Portfolio Manager of its multi-asset income range, where he will work alongside Bill McQuaker a former Henderson colleague.


Avana Invest have appointed Gerhard Rosenbauer as MD, replacing Thomas Uhlmann, who has resigned. Mr. Rosenbauer takes responsibility for liquid investment products such as shares and pensions.


Will Morgan, a Goldman Sachs MD in equity research, has joined Fundsmith, the investment manager set up by Terry Smith in 2010.


MP Pension have appointed Anders Schelde as Chief Investment Officer, replacing Niels Erik Petersen from the beginning of November this year. He was most recently Head of Investments to Nordea Life and Pension.


Banking

James Agnew (KPMG) has been hired by Royal Bank of Canada as Chairman of Corporate Broking for RBC Capital Markets in Europe. He will report to Head of European ECM and Corporate Broking for RBC Capital Markets, Darrell Uden.


Hedge Funds

Thomas Chadwick has been appointed vice president of the manufactured products team at Pritzker Group. Mr. Chadwick will be based in Chicago where he will work closely with the Pritzker Group Private Capital companies’ management teams to help source and execute investments.


IBD / Capital Markets

Kelvin Leung Head of Syndicate for Equity Capital Markets at Citic CLSA Securities has resigned after only a year in the position.


UBS has hired banker Kevin Cui  to its debt syndicate unit in Asia, following the recent resignation of associate director Anson Ko.


Natixis has appointed Edmund Wong as Executive Director in Hong Kong. Mr.  Wong was previously in the leveraged and structured solutions team at Standard Chartered in Hong Kong.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

UBS has recruited RBC advisers Deborah Johnston and Erica Frantz  who managed $290 million in client assets. They will report to Minnesota Market Head and Branch Manager, Christopher Watkins. Johnston and Frantz had worked at RBC Wealth Management.


Boston Private, has  appointed David Murphy as Head of Wealth Advisory for Boston where he will oversee Boston Private’s Wealth Advisory team in Boston and driving strategic initiatives to support asset growth. He will report to Chief Operating Officer at Boston Private Wealth , Scott Dell’Orfano.


HSBC Private Bank has appointed Abdel Ben Tkhayet as new Regional Head for Global Private Banking Structured Products and Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities, Investment Services and Product Solutions, Asia. Abdel will be responsible for overseeing fixed income, commodities, money market and structured products for the global private banking division in Asia.


Credit Suisse has hired Jacqueline Koo as Head of Investment Management, Hong Kong where she will report to Warren Hastings, Head of Investment Management. Koo was most recently Regional Head of Discretionary Portfolio Management Asia & Middle East at ABN Amro.


Private Equity / Direct Investment

KKR & Co have promoted Scott Nuttall and Joe Bae, to the newly formed roles of co-presidents and co-chief operating officers, responsible for day-to-day operations. They also join KKR’s board of directors. Co-founders, cousins Henry Kravis and George Roberts, remain co-CEOs and co-Chairmen.


Sellside – Sales; Trading; Structuring; Research

Kevin Tham, an MD in Merrill Lynch’s Global Credit and Special Situations Division has resigned.


Shokat Khan, a senior emerging markets trader who recently left Cantor Fitzgerald has joined BNP Paribas London as a senior emerging markets credit trader focusing on the Middle East and North Africa region at BNP Paribas.
