Asset Management

Aviva Investors has appointed Adeline Ng as Head of its Asian Fixed Income Team. The move is subject to regulatory approval.


Hubert Dänner has joined Assenagon as Head of Sales, where he will take charge of the entire sales operation. Dänner previously worked at Amundi as Country Head for Germany and Austria.


Franklin Templeton has announced the promotion of Mats Eltoft to Head of Distribution for the Nordic region.


Standard Life Investments’ Phil Barker has been appointed Aberdeen Standard Investments Head of Distribution for EMEA, following the merger of the two firms.


Family Office

Former Aquila executive, Sibylle Peter, has started her own company – Ysma and founded a family office in Zurich, with a Swiss family as her main customer.


Hedge Funds

Ares Management LP has appointed Michael Arougheti as CEO. Co-founder and CEO Tony Ressler, becomes Executive Chairman to focus on client relationships, marketing and strategic direction. Chief Financial Officer Michael McFerran continues in that position but adds the role of Chief Operating Officer, and Ryan Berry becomes Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer.


BennBridge has hired Gregory Mariasch, and Luis Fernandez de Mesa into investment roles for its global emerging market long/short boutqiue, Pembroke, which launches in 2018. Mariasch joins as Partner and Portfolio Manager from RAM Capital Partners. de Mesa joins as an Equity Analyst from Evercore.


IBD / Capital Markets

HSBC has made changes to its Debt Capital Market Syndicate team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, combining resources into two sector-focused groups. One will combine its sovereign, supranational, agency (SSA) and financial institutions (FIG) syndicate. This will be led by Asif Sherani and Mark Pearce, supported by Rob Anson, Pernelle Lombard-Latune and Tom MacHale. HSBC is also combining its emerging markets and corporates syndicate, where James Cunniffe and Souhail Mahjour will lead, supported by Antoine De Courten and Elena Garcia Hernandez.


Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc has hired Robert Danziger, from Deutsche Bank Securities, as an MD in its U.S. Investment Grade Syndicated Loans business.


Rothschild’s Investment Bank has appointed Elizabeth Wang, currently Head of Morgan Stanley’s offices in Hong Kong, as Head of Greater China, to advise clients on financial and strategic transactions.


Christian Klocke, Head of Covered Bond Syndicate at Commerzbank, has resigned and is expected to take up a new opportunity in debt capital markets.


Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking has promoted Yann Garnier to Head of Sales for Global Markets effective from 1 January. Jerome Niddam will replace Garnier as Head of Global Markets for Asia Pacific.


Insurance

John French, has been named Head of Broker Distribution at Chubb. He is currently Country President for Australia and New Zealand. In the new role, French will focus on developing Chubb’s product offering, including portfolio-based solutions, facilities, joint product design and execution initiatives with key brokers in the region.


Axa Winterthur Appoints New CEO (Europe)
Axa Winterthur, Head of Property and Casualty, Fabrizio Petrillo has been named the new CEO, succeeding Antimo Perretta, who was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the Swiss business of Axa.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

Oliver Holtz, former co-head of Wealth Management Germany at Berenberg Private Bank, has joined Deutsche Bank Wealth Management and will take over the management of Deutsche Bank’s central UHNWI division Wealth Management Germany from 2018 onwards. He succeeds Uwe Bork.


Andbank Spain has appointed David López, Alejandro Bellón and Carlos Palacios to its office in Madrid.


Private Equity / Direct Investment

Matthew Savino has joined Carlyle Group as an MD and Head of US Capital Markets with its global capital markets team. He was previously MD and Global Head of Alternatives with BlackRock Inc.
