Tracking career moves of financial services execs

Asset Management

Franklin Templeton Invesments has appointed Erika Arevuo as Head of Institutional Marketing, responsible for developing, coordinating, and providing strategic oversight of their global institutional marketing efforts.


JPMorgan Asset Management’s Head of UK funds, Jasper Berens, who also sits on the board of the Investment Association will leave after twenty years. The existing UK leadership team will now be led by Massimo Greco, Head of Funds for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.


Banking

Citi has appointed Debopama Sen as Singapore and ASEAN Head for Treasury and Trade Solutions, pending regulatory approval. She was most recently the India Cluster Head for TTS, with oversight of the business in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.


Hedge Funds

Richard Schimel, who ran Citadel’s Aptigon Capital, has left after less than two years, and David Bonfili, who was Chief Operating Officer, along with a number of investment professionals, also departed Citadel. Abington will be run by Eric Felder, who joined Citadel last year to start a group called Fundamental Strategies and runs the global credit business, and Reza Shahi will be the new Chief Operating Officer.


Five former senior Credit Suisse equity derivatives professionals, Eric Van Laer, ex-Head of Capital Development and Investor Services and Structured Equity Derivatives Sales; Anis Akl, a former Senior Equity Derivatives Trader; Mounir Elarchi, a former MD, Fund-Linked Products; Cameron Hedger, ex co-Head of Fund-Linked Products for the global solutions business; and Walter Rotondo, former Head of European Equity Derivatives Convertibles Trading, have set up a new UK-based hedge fund, Pluris Capital.


Two BlueMountain Capital Management money managers, Vincent Cooper and Yunus Olcer, are leaving the hedge fund according to people familiar with the matter.


IBD / Capital Markets

Ziegler, has appointed Donald L. Husi as MD to its investment banking team in for-profit senior living corporate finance.


Citigroup has hired Roberto Costa as an MD for Consumer and Retail Investment Banking in Europe, Middle East and Africa, with a focus on the luxury and retail sectors.


David de Rothschild will step down as Chairman of Rothschild and his son Alexandre will replace him in June, as per a long established succession plan. Alexandre is currently Executive Deputy Chairman, and first joined the bank in 2008 after time at Bank of America and Bear Stearns.


Insurance

Cigna International Markets has expanded role of two senior executives and made a new appointment in Asia Pacific. Raymond Ng adds the role of Regional Head of Distribution for Asia Pacific to his portfolio and Greta Mikelonis  adds Health Solutions Leader, Asia Pacific to her roles.


Investment Consultants

McKinsey & Co has elected Kevin Sneader as new Global Managing Partner for a three-year term beginning in July. Sneader, currently the Asia chairman, was chosen in a three-stage election by the firm’s more than 560 senior partners to be the twelfth partner to lead McKinsey since its founding in 1926.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

Two more advisory teams have left Merrill Lynch for rival firms, with the Steinmetz Jackson Wealth Group joining Janney Montgomery Scott in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and The Clements-Langdon Group move to RBC’s growing Raleigh, North Carolina office.


Lombard International, has appointed John Fischer to the role of Executive Vice President, Head of Distribution for its US business, taking responsibility for business development and continuing the expansion of Lombard International’s US footprint and internationally sourced Group Variable Annuity (GVAs) investments in US assets.


Citi Private Bank has appointed Kristen Bitterly Michell as Capital Markets Head for the Americas. She will be responsible for asset allocation, product advice, and execution across capital markets for the Americas region.


Union Bancaire Privée has hired Jonathan Lau, as an MD in private banking investment services, in Singapore. He moves from Standard Chartered.


Alpha FMC has appointed Michael Chaille as Executive Director in Asia, responsible for the service offering to wealth and asset managers across Asia.


Private Equity / Direct Investment

Heitman LLC, has named Tony Smedley as MD, Head of European Private Equity. He was previously at Schroder REIM as Head of continental Europe.


Sellside – Sales; Trading; Structuring; Research

Eric Schlanger, Barclays’ Head of Equities for America, will be leaving the bank,  retiring before bonuses were paid.
