Asset Management

ClearBridge Investments, the $137bn global equity arm of Legg Mason, has hired George Antonak as Institutional Sales Manager. He was previously at Harding Loevner.


Philip Anker is to join Investec Asset Management as an MD leading their North America business. He moves from Insight Investment Management where he was Global Head of Distribution.


Kerr Nielsen will step down from his role as CEO of Platinum Asset Management Limited from 1 July 2018, and is to be replaced by Andrew Clifford. Nielsen does stay on as a full time Executive Director of the Platinum Group and member of the company’s investment team.


Deutsche Asset Management has appointed Martin Johansson and Peter Lidblom to its global client group. Johansson moves from Neonet Securities while Lidblom joined last year from ETF Securities.


Wells Fargo Asset Management has appointed Peter Weidner and Mark Brandreth its multi-asset solutions team as Head of Factor Solutions and Senior Portfolio Manager respectively. They were both previously with Schroders.


Justine Randall has joined Tatton Investment Management, as a Sales Director. Ms. Randall was previously with Retirement Advantage.


Fund of Funds

Raiffeisen Capital Management has expanded the fund selection team managed by Eva Polly, by adding Andrei Diakonov, previously a fund manager at Union Investment Austria, and Christian Staritzbichler who was a fund manager at Amundi Austria. Diakonov will be responsible for quant allocation, focusing on fund selection and partner management in the equity space, while  Staritzbichler will assist Polly on the company’s biggest funds, including Raiffeisenfonds-Sicherheit, Raiffeisenfonds-Ertrag and Raiffeisenfonds-Wachstum.


Hedge Funds

Richard Schimel, who ran Citadel’s Aptigon Capital, has left after less than two years, and David Bonfili, who was Chief Operating Officer, along with a number of investment professionals, also departed Citadel. Abington will be run by Eric Felder, who joined Citadel last year to start a group called Fundamental Strategies and runs the global credit business, and Reza Shahi will be the new Chief Operating Officer.


Citadel founder, Ken Griffin has hired a quant team from Hutchin Hill Capital less than three months after founder Neil Chriss announced his intention to closing the hedge fund. The 10-person group from Hutchin Hill is led by Michael Urias.
