BlackRock Capital Investment Corp, CEO, Michael Zugay has stepped down and his position will be looked after in the interim by Chairman, James Keenan.


Laura Esposito will join Rockefeller Capital Management as Head of Institutional Distribution for Rockefeller Asset Management, to lead the effort to broadly distribute Rockefeller Asset Management’s global and small-cap equity, ESG and fixed income strategies to institutional investors, including pensions, sovereign wealth funds, and foundations & endowments as well as institutional consultants and financial intermediaries.


Sédar Piller has joined Swiss banking group Syz as Head of the Zurich office dedicated to independent asset managers.


Jason Gaunt has joined PanAgora Asset Management as Head of Trading and Implementation. He will be responsible for the Firm’s global trading activities across equities, multi-asset and alternative investment strategies.


ABERDEEN Standard Investments has appointed Andrew Hendry as Head of Distribution – Asia-Pacific.


Morningstar has announced the promotion of Hortense Bioy to Director of Passive Strategies and Sustainability Research for Europe. She will continue providing independent research on European-domiciled passive funds, ranging from ETFs and other exchange-traded products to traditional index funds.


Rathbones has appointed Group Finance Director Paul Stockton to the new role of MD of their Investment Management Department, subject to regulatory approval.


Robeco has appointed André van den Heuvel as Head of Institutional Sales Netherlands & Nordics effective 1 May 2018, succeeding Hilko de Brouwer, who is leaving to pursue other career opportunities.


Old Mutual Global Investors’ multi-asset business is to rebrand as Quilter Investors from the end of June and have announced a new senior management team as part of the change. Paul Simpson has been appointed as CEO, while Anthony Gillham continues to lead the Multi-Asset Investment Desk as Head of Investments. Dean Bowden has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer, Anita Masih has been appointed Head of HR, Mitchell Dean as dual COO/CFO and Fiona Woodhouse – joining from Janus Henderson – as Chief Risk Officer. Daniella Johnston joins from Aberdeen Standard Investments as Head of Marketing; Alex Risby joins from Royal London Asset Management as Head of IT; Matt Leary joins from Brown Advisory as Head of Operations; Maziar Alamouti from Agilis Investment Management as Head of Dealing; and Shawn Rea and Deborah Nash become Head of Finance and Head of Legal respectively, both joining from OMGI.


Investec Asset Management has added Portfolio Manager, Imran Ahmad to its multi-asset investment team. He joins from Standard Life Investments where he was a Portfolio Manager on the emerging market debt unconstrained fund.


Fintech, Hedge Funds

Jeremy Siegel, Credit Suisse’s former Global Head of Prime Consulting has joined New York-based hedge fund FinTech firm, LUX Fund Technology and Solutions as its new CEO.


Hedge Funds

Hedge fund Elliott Management Corp. is considering expansion of its business, packaging riskier corporate loans into bonds known as collateralized loan obligations, and is building a team to assemble the deals. Brian McNamara, formerly at GoldenTree Asset Management, has been hired as a consultant to guide this effort.


Point72 Asset Management, has appointed Dan Lota as Head of U.S. Trading, a position he has held in an acting position for the past six months.


Matthew Roberts who recently joined Fulcrum, will lead a new alternatives team to run a Diversified Liquid Alternatives fund.


ExodusPoint Capital Management has poached three Portfolio Managers from a unit of mega-money manager Man Group, with the hire of, Rory Hill, Ben Lynch and Oliver Hanff, as well as ex-Decca Capital’s Dinesh Mahajan.


IBD / Capital Markets

CTBC Financial Holding has hired Benson Chua as Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking, to replace Ridwan Tjahjono, who has left the firm.


Morgan Stanley has appointed Clare Woodman, Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa. She was most recently Chief Operating Officer of Morgan Stanley’s institutional securities group, and replaces Rob Rooney who is moving to New York as Morgan Stanley’s Head of Technology.


Natixis’ Board of Directors has appointed François Riahi as CEO, succeeding Laurent Mignon, who was appointed Chairman of Groupe BPCE’s Management Board on April 26, 2018.


Arma Partners, has hired three senior dealmakers, Paul Harvey, former head of technology investment banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Abhimanyu Toor from Barclays, where he was a director in technology, media and telecommunications investment banking, and Fabian Zimmer, a TMT investment banker who worked at boutique Mooreland Partners as it looks to grow its London business.


Insurance

John Hele has retired as MetLife Inc’s Chief Financial Officer and will be succeeded by company Treasurer John McCallion.


Specialist insurer Markel International, has appointed Debbie O’Sullivan as Senior Yacht Underwriter in its marine team.


Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Ltd. has appointed Jake Algar as Head of U.K. and Ireland, effective May 1, succeeding Marc Davis, who continues as Head of Sales for U.K. & Ireland.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

Mark Pittsey, HSBC Global Private Banking’s, Market Head for the West Region, will lead the company’s Seattle office as it looks to grow its West Coast presence.


Janney Montgomery Scott has poached Matthew Loitz from Wells Fargo where he managed $157 million in client assets. He will join their Glastonbury, Connecticut branch.


Derek Weatherford has been appointed MD in Minnesota for BMO Wealth Management. He was previously a Senior Vice President for Bank of America.


Northern Trust has announced that Jeffrey Early will retire as Wealth Management President of Texas, and that Colter Lewis will oversee Northern Trust’s Texas markets going forward.


The Sedoric Group, a team managing $370 million has quit Wells Fargo to join Steward Partners. The team includes Financial Advisors, Tom Sedoric and Casey Snyder, Wealth Management Associate, Erika Luczynski, and Senior Registered Client Administrative Manager, Brittany Long.


HSBC Private Banking has hired Santiago Robledo, as an Investment Counselor for its Miami office. He joins from Citi Private Bank where he was in  a similar role coordinating investments for clients.


Singapore-based HP Wealth Management has hired Mark Smallwood to further strengthen the offering and wealth structuring.


Jerry Lim Fang Wee, a former Executive Director for Credit Suisse has joined Arton Capital in Singapore to better serve the spike in demand for residency and citizenship advisory services, Jerry Lim Fang Wee as Business Development Manager in Singapore.


Guardian Wealth Management has hired Roy Walker as a Senior Wealth Manager (Asia, MENA, Middle East). He joins from Nexus Financial Services.


Commerzbank has appointed Marc Werres as Head of Wealth Management at their Aachen branch, succeeding Stephanie Doll, who has been appointed Branch Manager for Private and Corporate clients at the same location.


Degroof Petercam has appointed Sabine Caudron as Head of Private Banking in Brussels. She joins from Puilaetco Dewaay Private Bankers.


Private Equity / Direct Investment

BlackRock Inc has hired Steve Lessar and Konnin Tam, two specialists from Goldman Sachs Group Inc to bolster its private equity business in New York.


Mercury Capital Advisors, the global investment advisory and alternatives platform, has appointed Nick Savasta as Chief Investment Officer and Partner, overseeing Investment Advisory.


DWS, the asset management unit of Deutsche Bank, has named Neel Mehta as Chief Financial Officer of its global private equity business. He was previously Finance Director at Mayfair Equity Partners LLP.


Avendus Capital has named Varun Laul, formerly Director at US fund Providence Equity Partners LLC, as MD of its technology-focused fund Zodius Capital Advisors.

BNY Mellon Asset Management North America Corp has named Jed Maczuba as Chief Technology Officer.
