UBS Asset Management has hired Álvaro Cabeza to develop the business of in Spain. He joins from BlackRock.

Lemanik Asset Management S.A. has appointed Alessandro Silvestro as MD in Asia Pacific to oversee its European-domiciled fund business in the region.

Sweden’s AP4 has hired Jenny Askfelt Ruud as new Head of Alternative Investments in preparation for its revised investment guidelines coming into force next year.

Former Head of Indian equities at Neptune Investment Management Kunal Desai is the fourth fund manager to be joining Mobius Capital Partners.

Ex-Mirabaud veteran Gonzalo Sanz has joined Santander AM as Mid & Small Caps Senior Analyst (Europe).

Liontrust has appointed Frank Doyle to the new role of Head of Institutional Business. Doyle joins in September from Investec Asset Management where he was a Sales Director.

Aberdeen Standard Investments’ Jacquie Lowe has stepped down from her role as Head of distribution UK, (Europe, Northern Europe).

William Ackman has made a second round of staff cuts and laid off three investor relations team members. Investment team member Ali Namvar has retired and Vice Chairman Steve Fraidin returned to practicing law as a partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. Investment team member Brian Welch will leaving at the end of this month.

IBD / Capital Markets

UBS has hired Julie Sonies, a senior investment banker from rival Deutsche Bank to focus on its coverage of the consumer sector.


Hanover Stone Solutions has appointed three senior advisors to its newly-formed strategic planning consulting practice. Joanne Morrissey joins as co-Leader of the Strategic Planning Practice. Edward “Ned” Loughridge was previously with Zurich and Kemper and Gary Dubois has worked with leading property/casualty insurance companies through his consultancy GND Resources.

American International Group has appointed Adam Winslow as CEO International of its AIG Life & Retirement division. Winslow is currently CEO of AIG Life (UK).

Everest has hired Marsh Director David Nikolai as Head of the Specialty Insurance Group.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

J.P. Morgan Securities has opened a new branch office in Miami, and recruited veteran Goldman Sachs broker Sergio Akselrad.

Florence Schnydrig Moser, a top banker at Credit Suisse’s Swiss arm has been appointed CEO of Swisscard AECS, replacing Marcel Buehrer, who left the firm last month for other projects.

Five Julius Baer bankers have joined the Bahamas branch of private bank Gonet; Patrick Feuz and Jean-Marc Fellay, Patrick Guye-Bergeret, Juan Carlos Hofer and Matthias Krull move across in what is seen as a major coup for the bank.

MUFG has hired Matt Maley As Head of Private Equity Sponsor Coverage Group (Americas). He joins from Deutsche Bank, where he was most recently a senior member of the Financial Sponsors Group.
