Executive moves in financial services

Asset Management

Janus Henderson, has appointed Dick Weil as sole Chief Executive, ending a co-leadership structure with Andrew Formica that lasted just more than a year.

APG has appointed Peter Branner as its Chief Investment Officer.  He succeeds Ronald Wuijster, CEO, who was appointed to the executive board of APG Group as member responsible for asset management earlier this year. Branner joins from SEB Investment Management where he was Chief Executive Officer.

Solventis has promoted Georgina Sierra to Investment Director. She was previously responsible for Solventis’ external fund selection.

Hedge Funds

GAM has suspended Tim Haywood, Investment Director Business Unit Head for the Unconstrained/Absolute Return Bond Strategy (ARBF), following an internal investigation, relating to some of his risk management procedures and his record keeping in certain instances. The investigation has not raised concerns regarding his honesty.

IBD / Capital Markets

George Thimont has left Mizuho and will return to Credit Agricole, on their sovereign, supranational and agency bond syndicate desk.

HSBC has appointed Surendra Rosha as CEO India (Asia, South Asia, Southern Asia). He is currently HSBC’s Head of Financial Institutions Group (FIG) for Asia-Pacific.

Chris Green, a Financial Institutions Debt Capital Markets Origination Banker at Lloyds Banking Group, will move to the bank’s syndicate desk.


Arcus Syndicate 1856 has promoted Adrian Gfeller to MD and Gary Delaney to Head of Operations, from their current positions as Chief Risk Officer and Syndicate Manager at Arcus 1856 respectively.

Coverys Managing Agency, has appointed Robert Scott-Stewart as Chief Information Officer and Peter Chambers as Chief Technology Officer. Scott-Stewart joins from Brit Insurance while Chambers has worked as a consultant to businesses across the insurance sector.

Ed has appointed Patrick Jordan as Divisional Director, Marine.

Blue Ridge Partners has named Kevin Kennedy as a Senior MD. He was previously CEO of Avaya.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

Raymond James has announced that five financial advisors from Wells Fargo will join its independent division; father-son duo Jim Broadway and Jim Broadway Jr., William Perkins, Kyle Evens and Kent Nuzum operate as separate teams serving a variety of clients including business owners, retirees, families and individuals, managing $550 million.

HSBC Private Bank has appointed veteran banker Rachel Wei as co-Market Head in Hong Kong.

Daniel Brueesch, Head of Investment Advisory and Investment Office at Vontobel’s wealth management division will join rival bank, Raiffeisen Switzerland in charge of the investment solutions and products unit.

Trea AM has appointed Rocío Poquet and Daniel Pingarrón to its Institutional Distribution team, as Institutional Distribution Director, and Associate Director, respectively.

Azimut Capital Management has promoted Massimo Donatoni to co-MD and Director of Wealth Management.

Everstone Group has appointed Sanjay Gujral, formerly a Regional MD at L Catterton Asia, as Chief Operating Officer.

Morgan Stanley has hired Andrew Peel a cryptocurrency expert from Credit Suisse.
