Asset Management

Marc Mallett has joined Northern Trust as Director of Strategy for Asset Servicing, Americas. He rejoins Northern Trust from SimCorp, where he led sales and product management for North America.


Lord Abbett has added recently-hired portfolio manager Eli Rabinowich, along with John Hardy, to a trio of small- and mid-cap value funds, replacing Thomas Maher and Justin Maurer on the $3 billion Lord Abbett Value Opportunities fund, the $1 billion Lord Abbett Small Cap Value fund and the $136 million Lord Abbett Micro Cap Value fund.


South Korea’s government-run National Pension Service (NPS) has appointed Ahn Hyo-joon as permanent Chief Investment Officer, succeeding Myoun-wook Kang who resigned in July 2017. He was most recently President of the global division of BNK Financial Group.


Investec Asset Management has appointed Alasdair Prescott to its 18 strong UK advisory business in a newly created role, as Head of UK Advisor & Strategic Partners.


Northern Trust Asset Management has appointed Wouter Sturkenboom as Chief Investment Strategist for its Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific regions. He most recently spent six years at Russell Investments as a senior investment strategist.


Allianz Global Investors has hired Stephanie Carbonneil as Head of Investment Trusts, following the departure of Melissa Gallagher in July.


Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management has appointed Kris Deblander as CIO Equities and Corporate Debts.


Jupiter has appointed Katharine Dryer as deputy CIO, from her role as Head of Investments, Fixed Income and Multi-Asset.


Hedge Funds

Moana Moore, Global Head of Compliance at CQS, the investment firm run by Sir Michael Hintze, has left after almost four years.


Dan Robinson has joined CIFC LLC, as Chief Investment Officer, Europe. Robinson previously served as a Portfolio Manager and Head of Liquid Credit, Europe, for Apollo Global Management LLC.


IBD / Capital Markets

B. Riley FBR, Inc., has named Richard NeJame as a Senior Managing Director in their Corporate Restructuring division. He joins from Oppenheimer & Co. where he served as Managing Director and Head of Restructuring & Special Situations Advisory for Investment Banking.


John Tucker has joined Mizuho Americas as Managing Director and Head of Industrials.


Piper Jaffray Companies has appointed David Lee as an MD in its financial sponsors coverage group. He joins from Houlihan Lokey, where he was part of the firms financial sponsors group.


Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking (SG CIB) has appointed Yann Sonnallier as Global Head of Aviation Finance. He was previously Deputy Head of Aviation Finance and replaces Lucien Tomasini who has decided to retire.


David Brock has joined Houlihan Lokey, as a Managing Director in its Industrials Group, focused on the building products sector. He joins from Jefferies, where he was a Managing Director and Head of the Construction & Building Materials Group.


Insurance

Aon has appointed Andrew Marcell as CEO of Reinsurance Solutions.


Swiss Re has appointed Chee Foo to its regional Life & Health leadership team as Regional Head of Life & Health Business Management Asia.


Marnix Reinsurance Brokers has named Bob Knight as the new CEO of their Singapore office. Peter Phillips joins the company as COO and current CEO Paul Murphy will step down.


ArgoGlobal has appointed Michael Scala as Chief Underwriting Officer, Asia Pacific.


Hong Kong –

Generali Asia has appointed Neil Gardner as Chief Customer Officer for Asia. He joins from AIG.


Chaucer has hired Rajeev Menon as Regional Treaty Underwriter for Asia, MENA and the Indian-Sub-Continent from reinsurer Qatar Re.


Generali Asia has appointed Dipak Sahoo as new Regional Head of Information Technology for Asia.


BMS has confirmed that Andrew Godden has taken up his role as CEO of Australia and that Dylan Wilkinson has been appointed as COO of BMS Australia reporting to Mr Godden.


Allianz Partners has created two new senior roles for its international health brand, Allianz Care, and appointed David Myers as Head of Global Relationships and Thomas Duvernoy as Head of Global Health and Protection Services.


Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty is reshaping its Alternative Risk Transfer line of business into two new specialist teams; the Insurance-Linked Markets team becomes a standalone line of business known as Capital Solutions, and will be led by current ART Chief Underwriting Officer Richard Boyd, and the remaining ART practice groups providing Corporate Solutions, Reinsurance, and Climate Solutions will continue under the existing name of Alternative Risk Transfer, led by Michael Hohmann who moves to ART from his current position as Global Head of Liability at AGCS.


Broker Willis Towers Watson has appointed Pamela Thomson-Hall as Head of the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, as well as Head of Corporate Risk and Broking for the CEEMEA region.


Aviva Plc Chief Executive Officer Mark Wilson, has stepped down. Chairman Adrian Montague will share CEO duties with a committee of three senior executives, as the firm searches for Wilson’s replacement.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

J.P. Morgan Securities has hired Jason Holland a Wells Fargo Advisor managing $240 million in client assets.


Credit Suisse’ long-standing Head of Developed and Emerging Asia, Alex Wade, is set to leave the firm as Francois Monnet and Benjamin Cavalli, the two new heads of Credit Suisse’s Asian private bank slim management in the region.


UBS has appointed Towa-Christina Graefin von Bismark as Relationship Manager in the rank of Executive Director with a focus on the German and Austrian markets. She joins from Bank Gutmann.


Sellside – Sales; Trading; Structuring; Research

Shaun Barlow, Nomura’s main Distressed Debt Trader, has reportedly left the firm as they pull back from distressed debt trading. This follows closely on the departure of Juan Grana, a former MD in Nomura’s structured credit business who left last month and who is now an MD (and apparently the only employee) at the London office of ArrowMark Partners, a Colorado-based asset management firm.


Monaco-based finance boutique, Privatam has now opened an office in Zurich, which will be led by two former investment bankers, Thibault Pons, previously from Société Genérale, and André Schlegel, who was with UBS’ investment bank.


Credit Suisse has hired equities expert Ahmed Badr from Russian investment bank Renaissance Capital to help drive expansion into Saudi Arabia.
