Asset Management

Former Asia Head of Old Mutual Global Investors, Carol Wong has joined Ping An Asset Management in Hong Kong as Managing Director for Institutional Business Development.

Decalia Asset Management has strengthened its institutional sales team by appointing Truong-Linh Pham. He joins from  Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management.

Amundi, has hired Kasper Elmgreen, the Head of Fundamental Equities at Nordea Asset Management as Head of Equities.

Smith & Williamson has hired David Barfoot from J.P. Morgan Asset Management as Head of Fund Sales.

Hedge Funds

Man Numeric, has appointed Paul Kamenski and Robert Lam as co-Heads of Credit.

AQA Capital has opened an office in Milan aimed at institutional and private investors. The branch will be run by a six-member team, including Christian Manicaro as General Director; Alessandro Beggio responsible for leading the Wealth Management division; and Gabriele Rossi as Head of Asset Management.


Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE has announced changes in its global cyber leadership team promoting Emy R. Donavan to Global Head of Cyber, succeeding Nigel Pearson who has left to pursue other opportunities.

Maiden Holdings as agreed to sell its US facultative business including its team of seven specialists to Japan-based Sompo Group. Sompo has announced the formation of a new casualty facultative reinsurance operation to be led by Dave Adams from Maiden Re.

QBE North America has appointed Toria Lessman and Stacey Meade as new Heads of Transactional Liability and Financial Institutions businesses.

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has appointed Didier Bélot as Head South East Asia, replacing Jonathan Rake who was promoted to CEO of Asia Pacific. Bélot most recently led the Innovative Risk Solutions team in Asia Pacific.

MS Amlin has appointed Steve Ng Ka Chuen, as Senior Construction Underwriter in the Singapore office. He was most recently Senior Underwriter for Zurich Insurance Company Ltd in their Engineering Lines, Global Corporate team.

AIG Asia Pacific Insurance Pte. Ltd. has announced that Scott Spaven, currently Head of Client & Broker Engagement for Singapore and Southeast Asia, will take on the additional role of Head of Liabilities and Financial Lines for Singapore and Southeast Asia.

American International Group, Inc. has announced that Claudia Salem has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Singapore and Head of Country Operations, Southeast Asia, which includes Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Guam.

MAPFRE RE will open a representative office in Tokyo which will be headed up by Jun Matsuoka, an experienced insurance and reinsurance professional based in Japan.

Manulife Hong Kong has announced the promotions of Raymond Ng to Vice President and Head of Employee Benefits of Manulife (International) Limited, and Ellen Leung to Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Provident Funds Trust Company Limited.

The Navigators Group, Inc. has appointed a leadership team in Asia. Jon Doherty will serve as Managing Director of Asia, Sang Kyoun Kim as Chief Underwriting Officer and Paul D’Souza will be the region’s Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer. All three were previously at Chubb.

IAG has appointed consumer data analytics expert Bora Arslan to the role of Chief Analytics Officer, leading the analytics program in IAG Customer Labs. He joins from GTB, where he was Global Chief Analytics Officer.

Dai-ichi Life Holdings has announced that Managing Executive Officer Seiji Inagaki will succeed Koichiro Watanabe as President, while Mr Watanabe will assume the position of Board Chairman.

Achim Bosch has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for Deutsche Rück and the reinsurance division of the Association of German Public Insurers. Bosch comes from General Reinsurance in Cologne.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty has strengthened its broker relationships team in the UK with the hire of Lee Brewer from AIG and the promotion of Harriet Tiplady.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

SunTrust Banks Inc. recently expanded its Private Wealth Management practice in California and named a new Market President, Amir Mossanen.

Deutsche Bank Wealth Management has announced two senior hires on the West Coast; Richard Aguiar joins as an MD and Private Banker, while Wendy McMillan joins as an MD and Private Banker based in San Francisco.

RBC’s has hired three new advisor teams, as well as a new Head of Equity and Institutional Middle Markets. Chris Coburn returned to RBC from Baird. Michael Foody, joins from Wells Fargo. Grady Buchan, also joins from Wells and is joined by Senior Financial Associate, Katie Ansonia. Nick Angilletta joins in the Middle Markets position.

A Wells Fargo team including veteran Advisors Dan Furhman, Gary Garabedian and Bob Hill and Client Relationship Associate Michele McMahon has moved to William Blair.

A second team to leave Wells Fargo, Advisors Stephen Craig, Robert Andrews and Robert Savage has moved to Ameriprise’s employee channel.

India’s central bank has refused to approve a renewed term for Yes Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Rana Kapoor, requesting that he step down by January. Axis Bank’s CEO, Shikha Sharma’s term has also been cut short by the RBI. , and she will step down by the end of 2018.

Forum Finance Group has strengthened its team with two experienced private bankers, Philippe Senger and Alban Janssens de Bisthoven were poached from local rivals, Senger and Julius Baer respectively.

Lombard Odier said one of its seven partners, Hugo Baenziger will leave at year-end, citing differing views on strategy and leadership.

Deutsche Bank has promoted Tiina Lee, a veteran of its Sales and Trading division to lead its business in the UK and Ireland, replacing Investment Banking boss Garth Ritchie as CEO in the UK and Ireland.
