Asset Management

Fidelity International has promoted Steve Ellis to Global Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income succeeding Charles Mckenzie who has retired.


Barings has hired Mandy Lui as Head of Wealth/Retail Distribution for greater China and south-east Asia.


Yannig Loyer has joined Axa Investment Managers as Global Head of Trading. He joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Axa has also hired Alexis Gisselbrecht as a Senior Fund Manager in the Real Assets team. He moves from Patrizia Immobilien.


APG has hired Rik Bekkers as a Fiduciary Manager for Fixed Income. He joins from Achmea.

Three recruits have joined AMX; Aaron Overy as Head of Client and Manager Development from Northern Trust; Celia Larkin as Manager Development Director from Standard Life Aberdeen; and Elaine Russell as Senior Client Service Manager from Mercer.


Aberdeen Standard Investments has added four Portfolio Managers in Shanghai and Hong Kong; Edmund Goh, Asian Fixed Income Investment Manager, has relocated from Singapore to Shanghai; Aaron Ni has joined in Shanghai as an Investment Manager, responsible for covering onshore China credits; Alec Jin has been appointed an Investment Manager on the Asian equities team; Stella Li has started in Shanghai as an Investment Manager for China equities.


Charles Lin has been named Head of Vanguard Asia ex-Japan business, replacing David Cermak who is moving to a new role.


Lombard Odier Investment Managers has appointed Carsten Uekermann as Sales Director Wholesale for Germany and Austria. He was most recently Director of Wholesale Clients at StarCapital.


Hedge Funds

PointState Capital’s Kenan Turnacioglu is to leave the hedge fund.


Uberto Palomba, the ex-Goldman Sachs MD and former Head of EMEA Emerging Market Trading who spent three years at hedge fund Citadel before leaving in March 2018, is reportedly joining Millennium Management in London in February 2019.


IBD / Capital Markets

BNP Paribas’ veteran Debt Banker Frank Kwong, retiring on Oct 31.


Macquarie Group Ltd. has hired Massimiliano Pignatelli and Pablo de Mattos in London to make market bets with shareholders’ money, known as proprietary trading.


Bank of America Merrill Lynch has promoted Jessica Li to Head of Healthcare Investment Banking for Asia.


Sujata Bhattacharjee has returned to BNP Paribas’ Loans team after a stint at Indian investment firm 1Crowd.


Veteran Rothschild & Co. rainmaker Nigel Higgins, will become Barclays Plc’s Chairman next spring.


Global customer benefits and loyalty leader, Collinson , has appointed Todd Handcock as President, Asia Pacific. He was most recently, President Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific for Kognitiv Corporation.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

Triad Advisors, an independent broker/dealer subsidiary of Ladenburg Thalmann, has recruited Stonebridge Financial Group, a Pennsylvania-based team with about $850 million in client assets under advisement, from Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, a move which will make it easier for Stonebridge Financial Group to acquire other practices. The team is led by Brian McCarver, Jonathan Freeman and Jim Kampstra.


UBS, is adding two more teams to its offshore platform in China to cater to the needs of wealthy Chinese. The teams will be headed by Ann Qian and Fritz Chan, effective January 1.


Vanessa Walduck and Freddie Bennett have joined Rathbones as Investment Director and Investment Manager respectively, from Quilter Cheviot.


Angus Chiang has moved to Trium Capital, a London-based alternative investment boutique. He previously co-managed the Pelargos Capital Asia Alpha hedge fund.


Edhec-Risk Institute, the academic think-tank in Nice, Italy, has recruited the veteran Alain Dubois as a Senior Adviser at ERI Scientific Beta.


HSBC’s private bank, has added new personnel to its Investment Services and Product Solutions team in Singapore. The appointees are Tay Li Choo, Head of Fixed Income for ISPS, Southeast Asia; Justin Bramley, Head of Investment Counsellors, ISPS, at Southeast Asia, and Roy Teo, Head of Foreign Exchange and Commodities, ISPS, Southeast Asia.
