Investec Asset Management has named Marco Tang as Head of Advisor Business in Greater China. He joins from Neuberger Berman Asia where he was Head of Retail Business for mainland China and Hong Kong.

GAM has announced the departure of CEO Alexander Friedman, as the crisis-hit Swiss fund manager seeks buyers and battles to stem heavy outflows following the suspension of a top manager.

Neuberger Berman has appointed former BlackRock executive Leen Meijaard as a Senior Adviser.

Italy’s Eurizon has opened an office in Madrid and has appointed Bruno Patain as Country Head for Spain and Portugal to run the new branch. He joins from Generali Investments, where he was Head of Institutional Clients for Iberia.

Selim Adyel, a former associate on Morgan Stanley’s algorithmic trading desk, has joined Caxton Associates after a sabbatical during spent studying artificial intelligence and crytpocurrencies.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc has appointed investment bankers David Dubner and Pete Michelsen as co-Heads of Activism and Shareholder Advisory for the Americas.

Citigroup has appointed Philip Drury as Head of Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Houlihan Lokey has hired Martin Bastian as Head of Chemicals Europe. He joins from Citi, where he was Senior Coverage Banker for German and Swiss chemicals and pharmaceuticals companies.

ING has appointed Volkswagen Bank’s Stefan Rolf as Global Head of Securitization for Wholesale Banking Lending.


WKFC Underwriting Managers, has appointed Arch Insurance’s Mark Reisig as Chief Underwriting Officer, Property, based in Melville, New York. He was most recently Senior Vice President and Product Line Manager for Commercial Property for Arch US.

QBE plans to consolidate its Asian and European operations into a “large and better resourced” international division; and will merge its Pacific business with its Australian & New Zealand operations. Richard Pryce, currently CEO European operations, will become CEO International and a new senior leader for Asia will be appointed.

Miller Insurance Services has announced a series of senior appointments to replace a group of four long-serving executives retiring at the end of 2018. James Hands, Charles Lane, Phil Wheeler, Martin Henderson and Ben Speers will be appointed as equity holding partners with effect from 1st January. Hands is the head of Miller’s Accident & Health department, Lane leads its Liability Wholesale offering, Wheeler leads the Marine Liability Reinsurance team, Henderson heads the Marine, Energy and Transportation Liability team, and Speers serves as Chief Operating Officer. The executives retiring at the end of the year are: Julian Taylor, Brian Rivett, Xavier Villers and Andrew Miller.

Markel International has created two new standalone divisions for Marine and Energy, and appointed Chris Fenn and Julian Samuel as Managing Directors of the businesses.

Occam Underwriting has appointed Daniel Carr, a cyber security professional to its board, and an Ironshore executive, Mark Fisher, as new Chief Financial Officer.

Zurich has made changes to its general insurance distribution team appointing Michelle Taylor from RSA as Head of Broker Market for the Southeast, and Matt Perkin is promoted to the same role for the Midlands, Southwest and Wales.

First Republic Bank, has announced that Dan Dwyer, has joined First Republic Investment Management as Managing Director and Wealth Manager.

RBC has hired The Nearing Wealth Management Group is comprised of Gordon Nearing, Senior Vice President, Pamela Dallas, Associate Vice President; Nicole Molieneux, Senior Registered Client Associate; and Kelly Tullidge, Client Associate, from Merrill Lynch, it’s second team in less than a week.

Boston Private Financial Holdings, Inc has appointed Anthony DeChellis as Chief Executive Officer, to succeed current CEO Clayton Deutsch, who retires on November 26, 2018.

Private Equity / Direct Investment

Pamplona Capital Management has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Martin Schwab and William Pruellage as Co-Managing Partners, jointly responsible for Pamplona’s day-to-day operations.

Maven Capital Partners has promoted five senior staff to partnership positions. The newly promoted partners are Colin Anderson (Property), Suzanne Lupton (Co-investment), Ewan McKinnon (Private Equity), David Milroy (Private Equity) and Andrew Whiteley (Property).

DWS has appointed Thomas Kalthöfer as Investment Director within its Global Infrastructure Investment business. He joins from M&A and Corporate Finance at Barclays where he was most recently responsible for origination and execution of strategic energy and infrastructure transactions in the DACH region, alongside responsibility for client coverage.
