Asset Management

Ben Kottler, a portfolio managers on the $98 million MFS Global Research portfolio, has left the firm to pursue other opportunities.

Guy Stern the lead Portfolio Manager of Aberdeen Standard Investments’ flagship multi-asset strategy, is retiring and will  leave the firm in February 2019.

Macquarie Investment Management has announced that Chris Jacques and Corey Mayo have joined as Institutional Sales Managers. Jacques joined from WisdomTree Asset Management, and Mayo previously worked for Dupont Capital Management.

Manulife Asset Management, has bolstered its Global Asset Allocation team, adding three new members and promoting two existing team members to portfolio managers, named a head of Macroeconomic Strategy, and a head of asset allocation in Canada. Bruce Picard, Model Portfolio Lead, is responsible for leading investment efforts to expand model delivery and custom solution capabilities. Geoffrey Kelley, Portfolio Manager, joins from State Street Global Advisors; David Kobuszewski, Senior Investment Analyst, also joins from State Street; Jamie Robertson has been named Head of Asset Allocation in Canada; Frances Donald, has been promoted to Head of Macroeconomic Strategy; Rob Sykes and Chris Walsh have been promoted to Portfolio Manager.

M&G Investments has announced three appointments within its Global Distribution business; Micaela Forelli has been appointed Head of European Distribution based in Luxembourg; Manuele de Gennaro has been appointed Managing Director and Chair of the Board of M&G Switzerland, based in Zurich; and Kelly Hebert has been appointed to the newly created role Head of M&G Benelux (Belgium and Luxembourg).

Elena Westerdahl has moved to AP3, the Swedish state pension buffer fund as Senior Quantitative Analyst.

American Century Investments has appointed Benjamin Day to lead the firm’s UK office. He was previously Head of Global Sales at Stratton Street Capital.

IBD / Capital Markets

It appears that Mark Lewellen’s role as co-Head of Global Debt Capital Markets and Risk Solutions at Barclays is under threat, as he is one of the last remaining heads of Barclays’ investment bank not based in New York, and that his co-Head Travis Barnes, is expected to take on the sole global role.

Canaccord Genuity Limited has appointed George Fleet as Managing Director and Head of Advisory in its UK & Europe Capital Markets business.


Brit Global Specialty USA has appointed Jeff Norton as Senior Vice President, Cyber & Technology. He joins from Beazley Group.

Stuart Davies and Samantha Ford have joined BMS Australia from Gallagher. Davies joins as a Director specialising in Corporate Risks, including D&O and PI and Ford joins as a Corporate Broker.

The Chartered Insurance Institute has appointed David Thompson as International Director, based in their new Middle East and Africa headquarters in Dubai. He joins from Friends Provident International.

Canopius has appointed Marco Silva as Senior Underwriter, Property Treaty Reinsurance in London.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

Vontobel is hiring Stefano Retti to run its Wealth Management arm in Geneva. He moves from Société Générale.

Fenergo is setting up a new Private Banking and Wealth Management division, which will be led by new recruit Steve D’Souza.

Banca Carige Group has appointed Maurizio Zancanaro and Patrizia Giuliani. Zancanaro joins from Banca Aletti, and Giuliani joins from UBS.
