Asset Management

Gary Dugan, has relocated to Singapore to start the role of CEO of Purple Asset Management, a new joint venture, set up by The Fry Group, and Independent Strategic Group.


GVC Gaesco has hired Santiago Vázquez as Head of International Institutional Sales. He has spent the past six years as Associate Director and responsible for the business expansion in Europe of Oceanwide Asset Management (Quam), based in Hong-kong.


Guy Stern, Head of Multi-Asset at John Hancock Global Absolute Return Strategies is to leave the firm in February 2019. He will be replaced by Aymeric Forest, who joins from Schroders.


M&G Investments has announced three appointments within its global distribution business; Micaela Forelli has been appointed Head of European Distribution based in Luxembourg; Manuele de Gennaro has been appointed MD and Chair of the Board of M&G Switzerland, based in Zurich;  Kelly Hebert has been appointed to the new role Head of M&G Benelux (Belgium and Luxembourg).


Fisch Asset Management has hired senior portfolio manager Theo Holland. He moves from Kames Capital in Edinburgh where he was an Investment Manager.


BlackRock has promoted Joe Parkin to Head of iShares and Digital Wealth UK, Netherlands and the Nordics.


Ed Rosengarten, Head of Funds at Smith & Williamson, has left after four years with the firm.


IBD / Capital Markets

Goldman Sachs has restructured its capital markets teams in Asia, naming new co-Heads for the Equity and Credit units. David Binnion, ECM distribution and Risk Head of Asia ex-Japan, and James Wang, Head of China ECM, become co-Heads of ECM for Asia ex-Japan.


Insurance

HDI Global Insurance Company has made a number of new hires for its U.S Engineering & Construction division; John Sprague joins as Senior Construction Liability Underwriter; Diane Kirt and Robert Pawula join from Seneca Insurance, will support the division’s underwriting efforts, including rail and builders’ risk; Paul Magiera joins from State Farm as Associate Engineering Lines Underwriter; Julie Heller from Starr, becomes Construction Liability Associate – Underwriting; and Tom Barilich and Jeonghee Oh join as Senior Risk Engineers, with Barilich focused on the provision of risk engineering activity for casualty lines, including liability exposure control across the U.S, and Jeonghee on engineering line risk assessment and the appraisal of portfolios related to natural hazards.


Mark Wang has been appointed Chief Investment Officer, Group Insurance at HSBC. He was most recently CIO for NTUC Income Insurance in Singapore.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

LJ Partnership, who rebrand as Avarium Investments early next year, has appointed Neill O’Brien as Managing Director. He joins the firm’s wholly-owned investment and advisory subsidiary, Guggenheim Investment Advisors (Hong Kong).


Private Equity / Direct Investment

Michael Brandmeyer, co-Chief Investment Officer of the AIMS group and co-Head of Private Equity Strategies as well as Chris Kojima, Global Head and co-Chief Investment Officer of the AIMS group will now join Julia Feldman to co-manage the Goldman Sachs Private Markets fund, following the exit of Konnin Tam.
