Ex-Zurich Insurance Aileen Mathieson joined Aberdeen Standard Investments as Global Head of Strategic Platform Investment Solutions. Most recently, she was chief investment officer and UK head of wealth management at Zurich Insurance.

Edwin Conway will lead the private equity, direct lending, real estate and other alternatives to publicly traded stocks and bonds at BlackRock Alternative Investors. Before this new role, Conway led the institutional client business group. Additionally, Jim Barry, who used to be head of real assets, was appointed to the role of Chief Investment Officer.

José Mazoy was hired by Santander Asset Management as its new Global Chief Investment Officer. Previously, he served as global head of dynamic strategies structuring at UBS.

RobecoSAM has suffered two senior departures recently. CEO Daniel Wild will move to Credit Suisse. Co-CEO Marius Dorfmeister also announced his resignation from the firm.

David Wierzba has been appointed Co-Director of Development for France, French speaking Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg at Varenne Capital Partners. Wierzba has been working for the firm for the last ten years. Bertrand Vaur has also been appointed Merger Arbitrage Team Manager.

Andrea Orcel, Global Head of Debt Capital Markets has left UBS after five years.

Financier veteran Catherine Cripps has been appointed as non-executive director of international division at Goldman Sachs Group. Cripps is said to replace Susan Kilsby who retired from the bank recently.


Ex-QBE Kathleen Zortman has been appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of Private Client Group. She will lead the firm’s global high net worth portfolio, responsible for strategy, underwriting and distribution for the private client business. Prior to this, she was President of Property & Casualty at QBE Insurance Group.

Former Hiscox Adam Edelstein has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer at Munich Re Specialty Insurance, a new commercial insurance unit in North America.

Starr Insurance Companies has appointed Carmella Capitano as Head of Primary General Casualty-risk management and excess casualty. Capitano joined Starr in 2009 and quickly progressed as a leader in primary and excess energy, developing a well-rounded team and profitable book of business.
