Buyside

BlackRock undergoes reshuffling within its European equity team as a result of high-level exits since 2017. Co-manager of the BGF European Fund and BGF European Focus Fund Nigel Bolton will step down from his portfolio manager responsibilities effective immediately. It was announced that Stefan Gries, who is managing two other European products, will step in as the sole portfolio manager for both strategies. Bolton will also be relieved from managing the European Unconstrained Fund, to focus on his role as Head of European equity team. He will spend more time on providing leadership for strategic initiatives for the EMEA fundamental active equity platform.

Peter Sartori has left his role as Head of Asia ex-Japan equities at Nikko Asset Management. He has assumed this role since 2013 when Nikko AM has purchased Treasury Asia Asset Management (TAAM), which he founded in 2005. Replacing him is Rob Mann, who also formerly worked at TAAM. Mann has assumed the role of senior portfolio manager and macro specialist since 2013.

Vanguard Head of Personal Investing Nick Blake is leaving the firm after 10 years. He joined in 2009 when the firm has established initial presence in the UK. He led the roll-out of Vanguard’s first index and exchange traded funds in the UK including its retail investment platform, which was launched in 2017.

Stuart Taylor has joined Canada Life Investments as a Portfolio Manager for the LF Canlife UK Equity Income fund. Taylor most recently handled the RWC UK Focus fund at RWC Partners. David White has also joined the firm as a Senior Research and Strategy Manager. White previously worked at Mirabaud Securities as head of strategy.

Mirae Asset Securities and Investments has appointed Patrick Y. Shim as a Managing Director of Investments. He will focus on private equity and late-stage venture capital investments, including strategic investment opportunities. Before Mirae, Shim was a Senior Vice President of corporate strategy and administration at Hana Financial.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

Credit Suisse has hired Jorge Guillen as Head of Spain and Portugal. Guillen previously worked at UBS as head of Iberian ultra-high net worth clients internationally. Daniel Gonzalez and Guillermo Galofre have also joined the firm as relationship managers.

Former Julius Baer Saman Habibian has moved to Pictet to occupy the post of Head of Middle East. Habibian previously served as head of Middle East at Julius Baer and is well-known to Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) bankers. He is the latest in about three dozen bankers to join Pictet from Julius Baer globally under the new leadership of co-head Boris Collardi.

Tilney continues to grow its presence in Scotland by appointing Ronnie Binnie as a Managing Partner for Edinburgh. Tilney is one of the largest wealth managers in Scotland with an office presence in the nation’s three largest cities: Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. Binnie spent 27 years at Standard Life Aberdeen, most recently as head of business development for Aberdeen Standard Capital.

IBD / Capital Markets

Kirk Wylie has joined NatWest Markets as Head of Financing and Risk Solutions Technology. Wylie previously worked as global head of application platform services at State Street Corp.

Insurance

Lindsey Frase has joined TigerRisk as a Partner and Member of its North American current client division. Frase most recently held the post of executive vice president at Willis Re where she spent the last ten years.
