After 13 years at JP Morgan Asset Management, CEO Chris Willcox is retiring at the end of the year. George Gatch is taking over as CEO of asset management. Gatch has been with the firm for 33 years and held various leadership roles. He launched and doubled the market share of the global funds business’ U.S. mutual fund complex during his tenure as head of the group over the past ten years. In addition, Paul Quinsee, global head of equities, and Bob Michele, global head of the fixed income, currency and commodities group, will expand their roles to become co-heads of the asset management investment committee.

Columbia Threadneedle Investments has appointed Nick Ring as Chief Executive Officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He joins from Jupiter Asset Management where he served as global head of distribution.

Lazard Asset Management grows its quantitative equity platform by adding an investment team in San Francisco. The new team for Lazard US Systematic Equity is composed of Oren Shiran, Philip Summe, Stefan Tang, and Seavan Sternheim. Prior to joining LAM, the team founded Baylight Capital in 2013.

Esther Chan and Alan Siow have joined Investec Asset Management’s Emerging Markets Corporate Debt team. Chan previously worked for Ashmore Asset Management where she held the role of portfolio manager within the emerging markets corporate high yield team. Siow was part of Bluebay Asset Management’s EM corporate high income funds prior to joining Investec.

Polar Capital has hired Alastair Barrie as a Managing Director for North America. Before moving to Polar Capital, Barrie spent 10 years at Martin Currie where he last held the post of head of US wealth management sales.

Millennium Global Investment has appointed John Bradley as a Senior Portfolio Manager in London. Bradley joins the currency investment management team responsible for managing active currency overlay and alpha programs. He used to work in the global treasury and CIO office of JP Morgan. Richard Clark also joined the firm as an Executive Vice President in the US. Before joining Millennium Global, Clark was managing director, partner and head of sales for Frost & Sullivan Investment Partners.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

John Williams has joined Nedbank Private Wealth as Head of Wealth Planning for its international business. Based in London, Williams will focus on the firm’s private client base, integrating the benefits of wealth planning alongside the bank’s broader wealth management and wealth structuring capabilities. Prior to joining Nedbank, he was head of wealth planning at Credit Suisse.

Former Julius Baer Ali Jamal partners with ex Credit Suisse Karim Lari to launch a new Monaco-based wealth management firm, Azura. Jamal was the former head of key client emerging markets at Julius Baer while Lari co-founded the modeling and analytics group at Credit Suisse. Also working as another partner is Ben Leung who was previously head of trading and macro research at Broadpoint Asset Management.


Andrew Soper has left his role as global head of foreign exchange options trading at Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank. Behnouche Mostachfi, who used to serve as chief business officer for global trading unit, has been appointed as acting head of global FX options.

IBD / Capital Markets

New York investment bankers Mark Hantho and John Eydenberg are reportedly leaving Deutsche Bank. Hantho has been instrumental to the bank’s role in share offerings and equities-advisory work for more than ten years. He also has a dual global role coordinating securities underwriting across all regions, with the title of chairman of global investment banking and capital markets coverage. Eydenberg, on the other hand, takes the lead in maintaining longtime relationships with established private equity firms.

Cowen has hired Dan Schnurman and Townsend Ziebold as managing directors for its investment banking team, particularly in the global cannabis industry. Schnurman joins from PwC where he worked on originating and executing strategic transactions in the life sciences sector. Ziebold most recently held the role of managing director at Cascadia Capital.

Vivian Ren and Gong Lei have joined BDA Partners as Managing Directors based in Shanghai. Both are tasked to grow BDA’s expertise in M&A across Asia, specifically in the consumer and health sectors. Ren served as an executive director of M&A at UBS Securities in Shanghai. Before moving to BDA, Lei was a managing director of investment banking at Sinolink Securities.


MS Amlin has hired Mary Vogiatzidou as a Senior Marine Underwriter for its Dubai office. She will be responsible for developing the firm’s marine business across the MENA region. Vogiatzidou most recently served as a senior hull underwriter for RSA Group.
