Gramercy Funds Management has hired Jeffrey D. Sharon as a Managing Director and Global Head of Business Development. Before joining Gramercy, Sharon was head of North America institutional at OFI Global Asset Management.

Former Barclays Johnny Wu is opening a new fund, Plinth Capital which will be launched in November 2019. In relation to this, Wu has recruited Arman Ahsaei, a former vice president, equity derivatives structurer at Goldman Sachs.

Jose-Luis Pellicer has joined M&G Real Estate for a newly created investment strategy role. Prior to M&G, Pellicer was a partner and head of research at Rockspring Property Investment Managers.

Manulife Investment Management has appointed Erik Gustafson as a Senior Managing Director to head its US real estate asset management. In this role, he will oversee Manulife’s real estate investment assets within the US across the office, industrial, multifamily and retail sectors. Gustafson previously served as senior vice president and the global head of portfolio management at Fidelity Investments’ Pembroke Real Estate group.

AMP Capital has promoted Brett Williams to Managing Director of its retail platform. He is presently the fund manager of the AMP Capital Diversified Property Fund.

Paul Smith has left Premier Asset Management. Smith, who spent 14 years with the firm, has stepped down from his role as manager of Premier Defensive Growth fund and Premier UK Money Market fund and as co-manager of the Premier Corporate Bond Monthly Income fund.

Schroders expands its presence in Germany. After receiving its licence for portfolio management, the firm has appointed Zurich-based fund manager Philippe Bertschi to jumpstart the asset manager’s team in Frankfurt.

Empower Retirement has named Tina Wilson its new Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer. Wilson most recently served as head of investment solutions innovation and product management at MassMutual Financial Group.

Banking

HSBC Singapore made three senior appointments for its retail banking and wealth management unit. Alice Fok joined the firm as Head of Customer Propositions & Marketing. Before that, she was a director for consumer banking at Citibank Singapore. Ranojoy Dutta has been named Head of Retail Products. Dutta came from HSBC Hong Kong where he was head of regional growth, global transaction banking products & services. HSBC former head of premier international Ian Yim will assume the role of Head of Wealth & International Singapore in May.

Insurance

Rey Haliti joined Everest Insurance as a Director. Another new hire, Auberson Eustache has been appointed as a Manager. Halito previously served as a senior underwriter at AIG while Eustache joins from Crum & Forster where he was a senior underwriter.

Todd Jones has been named Chief Executive Officer of QBE North America. Jones previously held the role of head of global corporate risk and broking at Willis Towers Watson.

Manulife Philippines has named Richard Bates its new President and Chief Executive. Before moving to Manulife, Bates held a similar role at AIA Cambodia.
