Buyside

Marc Brookman has been appointed CEO of North America at Schroders. Brookman is the present deputy CEO for the region.

Co-Founder and Co-President Stephen Siderow is leaving BlueMountain Capital Management at the end of the year. Siderow will pursue new opportunities and philanthropic interests.

Eva Maria Hintner has been appointed Country Head for Switzerland at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. In this role, she will be responsible for maintaining and developing business relationships with distribution partners, as well as for offering investment solutions and products to both institutional and wholesale clients. Hintner joins from Aviva Investors, where she was most recently head of wholesale for Switzerland.

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has announced recent appointments to its Core Investments leadership team. Core Investments offers the Fixed Income, Framlington Equities and Multi-Asset platforms at AXA IM. Chris Iggo has been appointed Chief Investment Officer. He will lead the Core Investments “virtual” investment institute which will bring together the insights of the Research, Quant Lab and Responsible Investment teams for the benefit of all portfolio managers across asset classes. Marion Le Morhedec has been named Head of Active Fixed Income Europe & Asia. Serge Pizem has been appointed Head of Multi-Asset, leading all the investment teams of Multi-Asset. Laurent Clavel is appointed Head of the Quant Lab, that has been set up to foster innovation, focusing on quantitative research, portfolio engineering, product engineering and structuring.

Andy Sowerby has been appointed Head of Asia ex-Japan at Legg Mason. Sowerby will retain his role as Country Head and Managing Director in Australia and New Zealand, a position he has held since 2016.

Berenberg Global Head of capital goods research Simon Toennessen is moving to Jefferies for a similar role. Roberta Ciaccia, a former Berenberg equity analyst in the leisure and gaming sector, has joined Macquarie in September.

IBD / Capital Markets

Melissa Plaza-Marriott has joined Goldman Sachs to support the firm’s bid to win advisory roles from buyout firms. Plaza-Marriott most recently worked for Morgan Stanley’s financial sponsors team.

Insurance

AXA Singapore has appointed Jeremy Ong as Chief Customer & Operations Officer, Julien Callard as Managing Director of Retail, and Mauricio Coarasa as Chief Financial Officer. Ong previously worked as senior vice president at NTUC Enterprise. Callard will oversee the company’s retail business and general insurance distribution functions. His appointment comes as AXA moves to streamline the business and strengthen end-to-end accountability on the customer proposition, by merging its distribution functions and strategic business units. Coarasa has been with the firm since 2010 and most recently served as CFO for AXA Korea.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS) has named Hyeji Kang as global head of reinsurance and catastrophe risk management. Kang was previously head of actuarial function based in Munich.

Pacific Life Re has promoted Tyson Johnston to General Manager for Australia. Before this, Johnston was head of client solutions for Australia.
