Buyside

Portfolio Manager Michael Cornelius has stepped down from his portfolio management duties at T. Rowe Price. Thereafter, he will assume a new role focusing on leading the firm’s emerging market distressed debt efforts. Samy Muaddi will take on full responsibility for the company’s funds management.

Hightower has appointed Stephanie Link as Chief Investment Strategist and Portfolio Manager. She will lead the development of Hightower’s Investment Solutions group, providing Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) services, model portfolios, separately management accounts (SMAs), investment research and due diligence. Most recently, Link was senior managing director and head of global equities research at Nuveen.

Nick Hiles has been appointed Head of UK commercial asset management at Edmond de Rothschild Real Estate Investment Management (REIM). He will oversee the execution of business plans for existing assets, preparing asset plans for potential acquisitions, and developing the asset management capabilities of the firm as assets under management grow. Hiles joins from Stanhope, where he was an asset management director.

Alphabet and Google CFO Ruth Porat has joined Blackstone’s Board of Directors. She joined Google as SVP and CFO in 2015 and held the same post at Alphabet in October 2015. Before that, she spent 27 years at Morgan Stanley, most recently as EVP and CFO.

Liz Weiner has joined Pennybacker Capital Management as a Managing Director for capital formation and corporate strategy. Prior to this, Weiner was the founder and managing partner of Sundial Park Group.

Edgehill Endowment Partners has named Craig Dessen as a Managing Director. Before joining Edgehill, Dessen was a managing director at Roundtable Investment Partners, now Truvvo Partners.

Chris Scott has been appointed Co-Head of Australasia Equities as UBS. Scott first joined the firm in 1992 and has held various roles in Tokyo and Hong Kong, where he was head of APAC equity derivative trading and co-head of APAC equity derivatives.

IBD / Capital Markets

HSBC has promoted Asif Sherani to Head of Debt Capital Markets for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Souhail Mahjour, currently co-head of emerging markets and investment grade corporate DCM has been given additional responsibility to expand HSBC’s bond banking business in the region.
