Principal Financial Group has named Patrick Halter its new President for global asset management business. He replaces Timothy Dunbar, who will retire at the end of 2020. Halter is the current president and CEO of the firm.

Global Head of Distribution Campbell Fleming is leaving Standard Life Aberdeen. Since Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management merged in 2017, Fleming has led the company’s growth agenda and created a distribution platform. Prior to joining the Aberdeen in 2016, he worked at Columbia Threadneedle Investments’ chief executive for EMEA.

Ex-Matthews Asia Tiffany Hsiao and Beini Zhou have joined Artisan Partners as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, respectively. Hsiao was lead manager of the China small companies strategy and the Matthews Asia small companies strategy as well as co-manager of the Matthews Asia innovators strategy. Meanwhile, Zhou was lead manager on the Matthews Asia value strategy and co-manager of the Matthews Asia small companies strategy.

Andy Chorlton was named Head of Fixed Income at Schroders. Prior to this, Chorlton was head of U.S. multisector and fixed-income solutions of the firm.

Ex-Blackrock Alethea Leung and Anand Agarwal has joined Man GLG. They joined fellow former Blackrock PM Andrew Swan who left the firm in April to launch a high-conviction Asian ex-Japan equities fund at Man GLG.

Yup Kim has been named Investment Director of private equity at CalPERS. Kim was previously senior portfolio manager, private equity and special opportunities at Alaska Permanent Fund Corp.

David Conway was appointed Head of Wholesale Distribution for EMEA at Cohen & Steers. Conway previously worked at Jupiter Asset Management where he was global sales director and helped build the firm’s global financial institutional business from London.

Luo Dengpan has joined Vanguard as General Manager in China. Luo was most recently CEO of mutual fund firm Dacheng Fund Management and previously served a four-year stint with China’s securities regulator.

State Street Global Advisors has named Joanne Siu as Head of SPDR exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for Hong Kong. Siu most recently served as sales director at Jupiter Asset Management.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

Maggie Ng has been named Head of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC Hong Kong, effective December 1. Ng is currently Greater China CEO of online trading provider IG Group.

Insurance

Barbara Karuth-Zelle was appointed to this role board of Allianz in charge of Operations and IT. Meanwhile, Christopher Townsend was appointed to the board in charge of Global Insurance Lines, including AGCS and Euler Hermes, Reinsurance, Anglo Markets, Middle East and Africa. He served as the CEO of AIG’s International General Insurance Operations.
