Buyside

Varde Partners has promoted Jon Fox to President and Andy Lenk to Deputy CEO. Fox has been a partner at the firm and the head of the New York office, responsible for overseeing global business development and investor relations team, fund and product development, including communications and public affairs. Lenk, is also a partner and global head of strategy and portfolio operations. He is a member of the firm’s investment, senior leadership and enterprise risk management committees. The following have also been promoted: Elena Lieskovska, a partner, will lead a new insurance business after having previously been head of European financial services; Aneek Mamik, a senior managing director, was promoted to global co-head of financial services from his current role leading those investments in North America and Asia; and Missy Dolski, a managing director, was promoted to global head of capital markets from her current role as head of capital markets for North America.

Denis Lehman, Aviva Investors France CEO, is leaving the firm after 17 years of service to pursue new opportunities. The firm has appointed Geoffroy Lenoir, who is now taking on the role of a director of fund management, and Baptiste Buisson, who will take charge of mandates, solutions and ESG management at the firm.

Masako Chikuma has joined Union Bancaire Privée to assume the role of Lead Manager of the merged Japan Equity Value fund and Japan Equity Sustainable strategy. Chikuma previously worked for Sompo Asset Management.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

Vijay Solomon has been named Group Head of Global India and Developed Markets at Julius Baer. Based in Hong Kong, he will manage a team of six relationship managers in providing wealth management services for growing client segment of Indian professionals and entrepreneurs in Hong Kong and Singapore. Most recently, Solomon was head of non-resident Indian and Japan international businesses based out of Hong Kong for Credit Suisse.

Insurance

Raymond Ong was appointed Chief Executive of Etiqa Singapore, effective October 16. He replaces interim CEO Yip Kim Chee, who took over former CEO Sue Chi Kong in July 2020. Ong joins the firm after 11 years at Great Eastern across three countries, most recently as its Singapore-based group chief risk officer.
