Buyside

Andrew Maack was named Head of U.S. Trading at Vanguard Group. Maack joined the firm in 2002 and founded the firm’s foreign exchange desk and also served as an equity portfolio manager and municipal bond trader. Most recently, he was global head of foreign exchange trading.

Salvatore Naro joined Lazard Asset Management as a Managing Director, Portfolio Manager/Analyst. Naro most recently served as CEO and CIO at Coherence Capital Management. Vincent Mistretta, formerly president and co-senior portfolio manager at Coherence, will become Director, Portfolio Manager / Analyst at Lazard. Other PMs / Analysts joining as Directors from Coherence Capital are Sanjay Aiyar, formerly senior analyst / portfolio manager, and Michael Cannon, formerly senior portfolio manager. Chief financial officer and chief compliance officer Robert Del Grande will become Director of Business Strategy while Vincent Naro will become Senior Vice President, Trading and Operations.

Ahmad Atwan was appointed Managing Director of the infrastructure team at H.I.G. Capital. He will be responsible for designing, structuring, funding and implementing post-closing infrastructure strategies for transactions. Before that, Atwan was a managing director at Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners.

Citadel has hired three fund managers for its fixed-income and equity teams. Chiki Gupta Brahm, who previously handled money for Marshall Wace, will start work at Citadel’s New York office in the first quarter. After a stint with Holocene Advisors, Peter Odegard will return to Citadel in New York also within the first quarter. Marc Semaan joined the firm’s London team from Fulcrum Asset Management.

BNY Mellon Wealth Management named Sinead Colton Grant as Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Head of Equities. She joins from Mellon Investments Corporation where she was head of global investment and product strategy.

Insurance

Oscar Schmidt, Latin America Executive Vice President and President of MetLife, is retiring after a 26-year career with the company. Succeeding Schmidt as regional president of Latin America business will be Eric Clurfain, Executive Vice President and Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Japan. Succeeding Clurfain will be Dirk Ostijn, Head of EMEA. Succeeding Ostijn will be Nuria Garcia, Senior Vice President and Deputy Head of EMEA.
