Buyside

BlackRock has hired Celia Yan as Head of China for the firm’s Asian private credit team. Yan joins from ADM Capital, where she was head of Greater China.

Anne Simpson was appointed Managing Investment Director of board governance and sustainability at CalPERS. She will oversee the board governance and strategy, including the pension fund’s Sustainable Investment Strategic Plan and human capital management issues focusing on diversity and inclusion.

Gregg Lemkau is joining MSD Partners as Chief Executive Officer in February. Lemkau previously spent over 30 years at Goldman Sachs, spearheading healthcare and technology deals and has been leading the investment-banking division for the last three years.

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board has appointed Frank Ieraci as Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Equities. He replaces  Deborah Orida, senior managing director, who was named global head of real assets in September. Ieraci was previously managing director, head of research and portfolio strategy at the firm.

Investcorp has named Nicholas McGrane as a Managing Director of Private Equity, North America. Before joining Investcorp, McGrane was executive vice president, corporate performance, and chief financial officer at Evolent Health. 

Odey Asset Management hired Robert Marshall-Lee to lead its new global emerging markets team, effective in March. Most recently, Marshall-Lee was investment leader for emerging and Asian equities at Newton Investment Management.

Mark Mandich, President and CEO of PPM America is retiring from the firm, effective January 1. Craig Smith, EVP and CIO, will step in to assume the role of President and CEO in addition to his existing responsibilities.

Roger W. Ferguson Jr., President and CEO of TIAA-CREF, will retire on March 31. He joined the firm in 2008 and during his tenure, he oversaw the organization’s $6.25 billion acquisition of money manager Nuveen and $2.5 billion purchase of EverBank (now TIAA Bank). He also steered the launch of TIAA’s Business Resource Groups, which connect diverse employees for talent development, networking and community outreach and philanthropy.

Karen Tan has joined Pictet Wealth Management as an Executive Director, Fund Specialist advisory. Tan has more than 10 years of experience in private banking. Before Pictet, Tan was an investment specialist at UBS.

IBD / Capital Markets

Oppenheimer & Co has appointed James Murray as a Managing Director within its Global Consumer Investment Banking Group. Before Oppenheimer, Murray was partner and head of consumer M&A at KPMG.

Insurance

Swiss Re has named Agis Kitsikis its new Head of Client Markets P&C for Canada and English Caribbean. Before that, he was a senior market underwriter at Swiss Re.

John Mok is joining PartnerRe as CEO, Life & Health Asia Pacific in February 2021.

Back / Middle Office

Indosuez Wealth Management has appointed Michael van Ommeren as its Hong Kong Chief Operating Officer. Van Ommeren previously worked for ABN AMRO as chief operating and digital officer in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
