Marlborough Group has appointed Nick French for the newly-created role of Head of Business Development for multi-asset and wealth management. Before joining Marlborough, he ran his own business consultancy launching online tools for financial advisers. Prior to that, he spent more than 10 years as managing director and head of UK wealth management at Russell Investments.

Royal London names Barry O’Dwyer as its new Group Chief Executive Officer replacing Phil Loney. O’Dwyer most recently served as head of UK at Standard Life Aberdeen.

Downing has announced six senior appointments for its investment, venture capital, asset management, and business development divisions. John Pollington and Richard Lamb have been hired as Investment Directors for property finance. Torsten Mack also joined the firm as an Investment Director for the healthcare sector. James Nettleton, co-founder of Jaguar Land Rover’s VC fund, InMotion Ventures, has been appointed as a Principal for Downing Ventures. Joining the family office team is Christina Makris as Business Development Director. Tom Moore has been named to lead Downing’s in-house asset management capability for the energy investment team.

Private Banking / Wealth Management

Emma Lundy has joined Brewin Dolphin as a Wealth Executive. Previously, she was an associate wealth manager at AAG Wealth Management, an affiliate of St. James’s Place. The firm has also hired Amy Pethers as a Wealth Adviser. Pethers was a former private banker at Kleinwort.

Sellside

CLSA has promoted Angus McGeoch to Country Head for Australia. McGeoch joined CLSA as a director of equity sales in 2016 and was most recently based in Hong Kong, selling Australian equities to regional investors.

Former CIMB Satish Kumar has joined Equirus Securities as Head of Equities division. Kumar brings with him more than 16 years of experience in equity research, particularly in the metal and mining, chemicals, utilities and capital goods sectors. Kumar previously served as head of India’s research division at CIMB Group Holdings.

IBD / Capital Markets

Barclays has hired Daniel Zimbaldi as a Managing Director for its financial institutions group M&A. Zimbaldi joins from Evercore where he was a managing director in the depositories and specialty finance group.

John Bosacco has joined DC Advisory as Managing Director and Head of Debt Advisory & Restructuring. Before joining DC Advisory, Bosacco spent seven years as a partner for Centerview Partners.

Union Square Advisors has appointed Michael Meyer as Partner and Head of Capital Structure Advisory for its New York office. Meyer was head of global credit and U.S. fixed income at RBC Capital Markets.Emily Todd Anderson, who joined the firm three years ago, was recently promoted to Director and Head of Sponsor Coverage.

JMP Group announced that Raj Dayalan will assume the role of Managing Director at JMP Securities. Based in San Francisco, Dayalan will focus on the internet and software sectors. Prior to JMP Securities, Dayalan was a managing director at Rothschild & Co.

Insurance

AXA XL has made three senior appointments within its UK Client and Country Management division. Louise Piper and Harpreet Sanghera have been appointed Head of Client & Distribution, UK and Strategy Director, UK, respectively. Former EY Christopher Read has joined the firm as Chief Operating Officer for the firm’s UK legal entities.

AXA XL also named Robert Klepper Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of short-tail insurance lines.

AIA Sri Lanka CEO Pankaj Banerjee will relocate to Hong Kong to assume the post of Chief Executive, Group Partnership Distribution. Replacing Banerjee is chief marketing officer, Nikhil Advani.

Marsh has appointed Tim Scoble as Chief Executive Officer of its UK real estate practice while Mark Lumley returns to the firm as a Client Director. Scoble most recently served as head of UK real estate practice at Aon. Lumley was head of real estate at Howden.

Gareth Sutcliffe has been named Head of Insurance Investment Solutions Group (IISG) of Willis Towers Watson. IISG is part of the company’s insurance consulting and technology (ICT) UK life business. Sutcliffe joins from EY where he worked as a director for four years.
