Asset Management

Tim Nation has been appointed Head of Institutional and Corporate Business at AMP Capital. He has been with AMP since 2010, and moves from his role as Head of Real Estate Capital. He takes over from John Meagher, who has left AMP.

Joseph Linhares has been named Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Russell Investments Ltd. Linhares will report to Len Brennan, and be based in London. He moves from BlackRock Inc, where he was Global Head of Platinum Accounts.

Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board, has announced that Executive Director, Greg Long will leave on May 5. Ravindra Deo, the Chief Investment Officer will fill the role in an acting capacity while they look for a replacement.

Randy Kim has been announced as the first Chief Investment Officer at Rainwater Charitable Foundation. He will take up the position from May 15. The position, which is new, is based in Fort Worth, Texas.

Andy Wong has been appointed Senior Investment Manager at Pictet Asset Management, based in Hong Kong. He will co-manage the Pictet Strategic Income fund, their first Hong Kong-based multi-asset fund. He moves from his current position as a Senior Fund Manager at Invesco.

Federated Investors Inc, has hired a new team to drive their Asia Pacific business development. Bill Taki will move in as Chief Executive Officer, while Bill Mukai becomes Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific Client Relationships.  Hun Pil Yoe starts as Managing Director for South Korea. The three move across from Phoenix Global Capital Management. Their focus will be the regional distribution of existing investment strategies and growth of strategic relationships with financial institutions.

Sven Wuerttemberger has moved to Deutsche Bank Asset Management, leaving after eight years at iShares in Switzerland. He will be responsible for passive investments for Switzerland and Israel. He begins at Deutsche on May 2 and will be Zurich based.

atl Capital has named Marta Díaz- Bajo as Head of Fund Analysis. Marta, a partner who has been with atl Capital for 10 years, moves from her role as Head of Marketing and Business Development.

Peter Mann has been appointed a non-executive Director at Momentum Global Investment Management. His role is to build business in the UK.

Smith & Williamson have appointed Ben Rumary as an Associate Sales Director supporting its fund business. He moves from Axa investment managers. Mr. Rumary will report to Ed Rosengarten, Head of Funds, and will work with Andrew Groves and Tim Rea in its well-established sales team to promote its funds including the enterprise fund, the short dated corporate bond fund and the UK equity income fund, to the intermediary market.

Hermes Investment Management have announced Andrew Jackson as head of Fixed Income. Jackson will be based in London and will report to Eoin Murray, Head of Investment. His responsibility includes leading strategic development of the credit and direct lending investment teams, as well as the development of a global multi-asset credit offering for pension funds and other long-term institutional investors. Mr. Jackson will also sit on the Hermes Strategy Group, contributing to the business development.

Sandaire, has appointed Andrew Waldren as Chief Operating Officer, a role previously incorporated within the Chief Financial Officer role. Mr. Waldren previously worked at Tilney Group where he managed the integration and acquisition of Ingenious Asset Management.

William Ferreira has been appointed Head of Machine Learning at Man GLG. The role, which is new, will see Mr. Ferreira developing Man GLG’s machine learning capability, to support the portfolio managers with tools and techniques enhancing their decision-making processes.

Sebastian Barrack has been appointed Head of Commodities at Citadel LLC. Barrack will be based in Chicago and starts in July. He replaces Mark Stainton who moved internally in 2016, to head Citadel’s global equities unit.

BlueMountain Capital Management, LLC have hired Rollo Wigan as Client Advisor in their London office. His role is to support ongoing client and business development activities across Europe, the Middle East and Australia, with responsibility for strengthening existing relationships and identifying new investment opportunities, with institutional investors, consultants and high net worth individuals and their advisors. Mr. Wigan joins from Eisenstat Capital Partners where he was Managing Director and Head of Marketing and Investor Relations.

Axis Bank, has promoted Viplove Chaturvedi to Head of Loan Syndications globally, moving from his role as Head of International Loan Syndications.

Mike Weir has been named Head of US Par Loan Trading at Deutsche Bank. Weir moves into the vacancy opened when Michael Eilert moved to Credit Suisse who left earlier in the year.

Deutsche Bank hired two senior healthcare investment bankers, Philip Pucciarelli and Robert Verdier, from BMO Capital Markets. Mr. Pucciarelli joins Ross Hammerman as co-head of Healthcare Investment Banking. He will be New York based, and reports to Mark Fedorick.

Verdier joins as a Managing Director in Healthcare Investment Banking as reports to Pucciarelli and Hammerman.

Nomura has announced that Tristan Laurencin will join them as Head Secondary Loan Trader. He will report to Shaun Barlow and is based in London. Mr. Nomura moves from Societe Generale, as Head of Leveraged Loans.

Holger Knittel has been named Head of M&A for Germany, Austria and Switzerland at Citigroup. He moves from his position as co-head of Germany M&A at Deutsche Bank. He will be based in Frankfurt and reports to Stefan Wintels and Wilhelm Schulz.

Rhonda Hui has been appointed Chief Agency Officer for Chubb Life, Hong Kong, where she takes responsibility for the local agency channel. Her role will include driving agency management to develop and implement strategies to build a productive, quality agency force of scale.

Sam Farrands has been poached from MinterEllison by King & Wood Mallesons. He moves into the role of Head of Projects, in the construction practice. Farrands is a project specialist, advising developers, contractors, financiers and governments on major projects and privatisations. His focus is on infrastructure, energy, water and wastewater sectors.

Edelweiss Group has named Ashish Kehair as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of its global asset and wealth management arm. He leaves IDFC Bank where he was Head of Wealth Management and Private Banking.

Todd Baker, Bradley Harvey, Jack York and James Young, former wirehouse advisors with $500m in combined client assets have gone independent with HighTower, the seventh team to join them this year. They will each operate their own advisory practices under their new shared brand, Resolute Investment Advisors, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Advisers Jordan Plaster, Clark Scarvey and Harry Shumaker have left Merrill Lynch to join a new Ameriprise branch office in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The trio oversaw about $333 million in client assets and become the latest wirehouse recruits to join Ameriprise.

The all-female advisor team of Tracey Schusterman, Rosa Mazzone, Dina LiRosi and Rosa Diaz, with $375 million in client assets, have joined RBC Wealth Management, from Schusterman Mazzone Group. The move is part of RBC Wealth Management’s aim to promote diversity and bring more women into financial planning.

Deutsche Bank has hired Fawaz Baba, a veteran private banker to head its Swiss business with Saudi clients. He will head up the Swiss wealth management team catering to clients from Saudi Arabia. He has previously held similar positions at Credit Suisse and Barclays. He will be based in Geneva and report to Sascha Pietrek and Steve Wainwright.

Amherst Capital Management has recruited Damon Pitler as a Managing Director, running their U.S. single-family equity and commercial real estate portfolios. He moves from the Texas Teacher Retirement System. He will be based in Austin and report to Sean Dobson, CEO and Chief Investment Officer.

HarbourVest Partners has appointed Paula Drake as Managing Director and General Counsel. She will oversee all aspects of their global legal and compliance functions. She was most recently Managing Director, Global Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Regulatory Officer at Och-Ziff Capital Management Group.

Ian Dimmock has been appointed as Vice President – Relationship Manager, Corporate Loan Specialist in the EMEA relationship management team at Moody’s Investors Service. His role will be strategy development and execution of outreach programs to improve relationships with syndicate banks and loan arrangers active in the corporate loan market, traditional and alternative investors and other financial intermediaries.

JP Morgan has hired Matt Mallgrave to head their cash equities trading in the Americas. Mallgrave will move from Credit Suisse in June. His appointment is part of their desire to expand in cash equities, the only major area of investment banking not it the top three positions.
