Asset Management

Dennis Stattman, a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at BlackRock, will retire in August.
Management of his global allocation funds will continue to be managed by the portfolio management team, of Dan Chamby, Russ Koesterich, David Clayton and Kent Hogshire.

Jay Jacobs, retiring President of Pacific Investment Management Co. will be succeeded by veteran executives Robin Shanahan and Peter Strelow will serve as co-COOs, reporting directly to CEO Emmanuel Roman. While they will oversee operations, money management will continue to fall under Dan Ivascyn. Ms. Shanahan, currently Global Head of Human Resources, has been at PIMCO for 10 years. Mr. Strelow, Chief Administrative Officer and Global Head, Funds started at PIMCO 15 years ago.

 Pavilion Advisory Group has named David Thompson as a Senior Consultant, a new position at the firm, working with endowment and foundation clients. Mr. Thompson will report to Managing Director and Head of Pavilion Advisory Group’s endowments and foundation practice area, Cori Trautvetter.

Polen Capital has appointed Tucker Walsh as Head of the small company growth team and U.S. small company growth portfolio manager a new position. Mr. Walsh will focus on building and leading their new domestic small-cap growth team out of a new Boston office.

BNP Paribas Asset Management has named Mark Speciale as Asia Pacific Head of Institutional Sales. He takes
responsibility for developing and managing the buildout of their institutional sales strategy and client relationship management for the region, including Greater China. He moves from his position as Head of Distribution, Asia Pacific at BNY Mellon Investment Management in Singapore.

Old Mutual Global Investors, has announced the hiring of three emerging markets equity managers, as they move to bring management of the $244.6 million OMGI fund, in-house, pending regulatory approval. The fund as been sub-advised by Fisher Investments for the last six years.
The three, Nick Payne, Salman Siddiqui and Liz Fernandes previously worked together at Nomura Asset Management’s London office. Mr. Payne joined as Head of Global Emerging Markets, while Salman Siddiqui and Liz Fernandes joined as Portfolio Managers.

Fredrik Bjelland has been hired as Portfolio Manger on at Skagen. He will manage their Kon-Tiki fund. Mr. Bjelland moves from his position as Portfolio Manager and Head of China, Special Mandates at Norges Bank Investment Management.

RobecoSAM has added four SI specialised sales professionals to its client relations team. Stéphane Matile becomes Head of Wholesale Clients and Country Head for Switzerland; Rüdiger Zeppenfeld has been appointed Head of Institutional Clients; Johannes Weisser and Susanne Linhardt have been appointed senior client portfolio manager and client portfolio manager and will provide support to the RobecoSAM and Robeco client relationship managers in Switzerland and globally. They will report to Marius Dorfmeister, Global Head of Clients & Marketing and member of the Executive Committee.

Asset Management, Hedge Funds

GAM has named Anne Lundberg, Head of North America Consultant Relations, a new position. She will take on responsibility for relationships with large asset management consultants in North America. Ms. Lundberg, who moves from a corresponding role at Man Group, will report to Global Head of Consultant Relations Greg Clerkson.

Back / Middle Office

AIA Australia has added two new roles and appointed a new Chief Financial Officer as they expand their executive team. Michael Chernov takes over the role of Chief Financial Officer from Harry Efthimiou who has moved to the new position of Chief Health Insurance Officer. The other new position is Chief Strategy Officer for Australia and New Zealand. Tim Tez, who has moved from MetLife takes on that portfolio and will oversee strategy, corporate affairs and government relations.


 Wells Fargo & Company has hired Andrew Rowe as Head of Community Banking Customer Segments. Mr. Rowe will concentrate on serving affluent and small business customers.

Hedge Funds

Petra Dismorr, Citigroup Inc’s Director of  EMEA Capital Introductions, will join Halcyon Capital Management as Head of EMEA Sales in their London office.

Industry veteran Peter Salvage has been appointed to the new role of Global Head for Hedge Fund Services at BNY Mellon . Mr. Salvage takes responsibility for long-term strategy of their hedge fund services business. He moves from his position as Managing Director at SS&C Technologies’ hedge fund services.

Simon Davies has recruited ex-colleague Ian Newton to join his Europe-focused hedge fund, Sand Grove Capital Management as a Partner.

J.P. Morgan Asset Management has hired Brad Demong and Leander Christofides, veteran private credit investors, to join a new Global Special Situations group in its Alternatives business, as Co-CIOs. They previously held senior roles in J.P. Morgan’s Corporate and Investment Bank, but left the firm in 2016.

IBD / Capital Markets

Chris Leonard has been appointed Managing Director, Head of US Rates Trading, by Barclays. He moves from Arcem Capital, the global macro and fixed income hedge fund he establsihed 5 years ago.


Christina Bresani, has been appointed a Managing Director and Head of Financial Services Investment Banking at William Blair. Ms. Bresani will also focus on sourcing, structuring, and executing mergers and acquisitions involving high-profile public and private companies across sectors.

Marko Popovic a Director in ING’s structured acquisition and sponsor coverage team has been relocated from London to Singapore to a new position, heading structured acquisition finance and sponsor coverage in Asia.

Jeremy Sng a veteran southeast Asia ECM banker has been named Head of Singapore Corporate Finance and Capital Markets at Citic CLSA.

Jason Ho co-­Head of Debt Capital Markets at ICBC International, has left the business.

Rob Ritchie has been appointed to replace the retiring Alan Thomas, as co-Head of their UK investment banking business alongside Philip Noblet.

Private Banking / Wealth Management 

Ian Rumens has been announced Global Head of Private Wealth Services at Intertrust. Based in Jersey, Mr. Rumens has been a Director of Intertrust’s private wealth team as since 2016.

Mark Smallwood, has been appointed Managing Director of Confidentem Private Office, based in Singapore.

Sellside – Sales; Trading; Structuring; Research

UBS has announced the appointment of Brock Vandervliet as an Executive Director and Senior Analyst to cover mid-cap commercial bank and mortgage finance sectors in the equity research department in New York.
