Asset Management

Josh Cohen has been appointed Head of Institutional Defined Contribution for PGIM’s institutional relationship group, where he will serve as an adviser to their largest DC clients. He leaves his position as Managing Director of Defined Contribution at Russell Investments.


Francisco Valdés Vidal has been confirmed as the replacement for Liz Jimenez Martinez who leaves LarrainVial Asset Management for personal reasons. Valdés Vidal moves into the role from 1 June, having been with LarrainVial for more than a year.


Medley Management have announced Christopher Allen as a Senior Managing Director and Head of Structured Credit. In this position, a new one in the firm, Mr. Allen will be responsible for leading the structured credit business, including investing in collateralized loan obligation equity and leading the expansion of Medley’s CLO management business. He reports to Medley co-CEO, Brook Taube.


Former BlackRock director, Kayvan Malek has been hired by Wells Fargo Asset Management as a Senior Portfolio Manager in their multi-asset solutions team. His responsibilities will include managing real assets and global-return portfolios for retail and institutional clients, according to a Wells Fargo statement. Based in San Francisco, Malek will report to Nicolaas Marais, president of Wells Fargo Asset Management (WFAM) and head of multi-asset solutions.


Twelve Capital has hired Florian Steiger as a Director within the portfolio management team. Steiger will focus on catastrophe bond strategies. He leaves Cape Capital where he established and ran the Cape Fixed Income Fund.


IBD / Capital Markets

Heather Smith has been appointed as a Managing Director and Head of Structured Equity, at Houlihan Lokey. She moves from Sagent Advisers where she headed up the private financing solutions group. Ms. Smith will be based in New York and will provide customized equity capital solutions to corporate and financial sponsor backed clients for acquisition finance, growth capital and balance sheet recapitalizations.


First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), has appointed Anand Bangur, Head of the Asia Pacific corporate finance division. He will be Singapore based and will focus on bonds, loans and M&A advisory.


UBS China has lost three senior investment bankers in recent moves.  Managing Directors Wang Cheng, Ding Xiaowen, and Frank Sun have all left UBS in Hong Kong.

Xiaowen, moves to Tianfeng Securities as Head of Investment Banking, based in Wuhan.

Cheng, who was Deputy Head of Investment Banking for Hong Kong, will join Morgan Stanley as Vice Chairman of Asia Pacific investment banking.


Berenberg has added six new analysts to its UK mid-cap research team, with the appointment of Charles Weston, Ian Osburn and four others.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

Alaia Capital has grown its management team with the recent appointment of the highly experienced Steve Bodurtha, Steve Houston and Dan Yang, with the aim of expanding their user base.


Jacob Alvarez has joined Citi Private Bank as a Private Banker on the Metro New York team providing wealth management services to New York based clients and Financial Sponsor clients. He moves across from J.P. Morgan Private Bank where he was a member of the Financial Sponsors Group.


Greg Simmons has returned to UBS as an Investment Adviser in their global South Asia office. This is his second term at UBS, where he previously held the position of Head of Structured Products & Research Based Advice, UK & Jersey. He moves back after a term at Coutts. 


Sterling Private Wealth have named the group’s new CEO as David Murray, from BT Magnitude.

Vaibhav Chadha, Axis Bank’s Head of Credit in Hong Kong, has been promoted to Vice President, a move that extends the scope of his role, including overseeing development.
