Asset Management

Standard Life Aberdeen, has appointed Amy Wang as Head of its onshore China business, starting at the beginning of September.


State Street Global Advisors has promoted Mark Hui to Head of Global Equity Beta Solutions for Asia ex-Japan, operating from Hong Kong.


Capital Group has hired industry veteran Shen Tan as an MD Institutional, for Asia, excluding Japan, operating from Hong Kong.


Rathbones will rename their Recovery Fund and cut AMC for a while, following Jo Rands resignation. Rands has been co-manager of the Recovery fund alongside Alexandra Jackson, who for now, will be sole manager of the fund supported by the group’s research team.


Doug Jones has been named an Investment Manager in Hargreave Hale’s Lancaster office.


Aviva Investors has named Sunil Krishnan as Head of Multiasset Funds, a new position at the firm. Krishnan will oversee the teams managing multiasset portfolios across institutional and retail clients and will operate from London. Gavin Counsell who has been a fund manager with the firm for five years, has been appointed a manager on the Aviva Investors Multi Strategy Target Income Fund, replacing Nick Samoulihan.


Liontrust Asset Management Plc has hired David Roberts and Phil Milburn. Roberts is Heads of Kames Capital’s fixed income team while Milburn leads investment strategy for the team.


Banking

Muir Paterson will join Citi’s Corporate and Investment Banking division as Global Head of Strategic Shareholder Advisory in its M&A Group. The role which is new, gives Mr. Paterson oversight of Citi’s activist defense practice globally, and allows him to advise clients on issues related to corporate governance, board advisory, M&A and capital allocation.


Fund of Funds, Private Equity / Direct Investment

AlpInvest Partners has named Ruulke Bagijn the former AXA Investment Managers Executive  as a Partner and Head of its Primaries business. She will start at the beginning of September, based in Amsterdam.


Hedge Funds

Lewis Fellas, who left Harvard Management Co. in Boston last year, is launching Bletchley Park Asset Management, a hedge fund that invests in things like Bitcoin, at the beginning of September. Fellas is the Chief Investment Officer, and Ronnie Potel, formerly at Morgan Stanley, is Managing Partner.


Apoorva Koticha has been appointed CEO of Cambridge Square Capital. Marco Barrozo, will serve as Chief Investment Officer with Koticha.


Balyasny Asset Management, has recently hired Fiona Simpson, from Morgan Stanley, Andrey Kustarev, formerly Goldman Sachs, and Timothy Power, who worked for hedge fund York Capital Management as it expands its London operation.


Max Lovell, from BlueMountain Capital Management, will join Man Group Plc’s GLG unit as Head of Credit Trading in London.

BlueMountain has also lost distressed-debt analysts Tripp Lane and Vitaliy Ardislamov recently.

Natixis has hired Ahmet Ugurlu as Executive Director and Coverage Banker, Americas. Ugurlu, was most recently Director of Energy and Infrastructure Banking at HSBC Securites.


Alpesh Varsani has been hired as a Director by Credit Agricole for their financial institutions debt capital markets solutions and advisory business. Varsani joins from Societe Generale.


Nomura Holdings Inc has appointed Andrey Chuprin as MD and Head of Global Markets Sales for Russia and CIS. Chuprin, was most recently Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Sales at Sberbank.


Natixis has appointed Claudio Boada as Senior Adviser for Spain and Portugal where he is responsible for expanding clients’ portfolios in the Iberian region and driving the growth and development strategy.


Eyas AlDossari, has been appointed Head of Investment Banking for Saudi Arabia at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as they look for growth in the kingdom.

Willis Towers Watson Plc has appointed Ken Smith Corporate Risk and Broking Market Leader for Washington, D.C. and Chesapeake Bay, Virginia.


Hymans Robertson has hired Tom Dunster as a Senior Investment Research Consultant to lead their equity research.


Callan Associates, has named Greg Allen as CEO effective the beginning of September. Currently President and Director of Research, Allen will succeed CEO Ron Peyton, who is also chairman, and takes the title of Executive Chairman. Mr. Allen stays in his position as President.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

Julius Baer has hired Christoph Hartgens as Chief Digital Officer to coordinate and promote digital projects and secure digital interaction with clients and outside partners.


Daniel Kerbach, Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Global Head of Discretionary Investment Solutions will leave to take up the position of CIO at Merck Finck private bank.


Falcon Private Bank, has hired two senior relationship managers Christian Blum and Gregor Cantieni starting September 1.


HSBC Private Banking has appointed Sai Tampi as Global Head of Funds and Exchange Traded Frunds, responsible for development and distribution of funds and ETFs, to clients globally, and for managing global fund selection. Tampi will also lead the Global Fund Selection team.


Private Equity / Direct Investment

Thoma Bravo has appointed Jack Le Roy as a Partner to help build a new credit business. Mr. Le Roy was previously a principal in the credit business of Summit Partners.


Ruulke Bagijn will Carlyle Group’s AlpInvest Partners as Head and MD of their primaries business. Ms. Bagijn leaves AXA Investment Managers, where she was Global Head of Real Assets Private Equity and Member of the Management Board.
