Asset Management

Natixis Global Asset Management has hired Gordon Burrow and María Pía Sojo as it grows its US offshore business. Burrow joins as an external wholesaler in Houston responsible for developing key accounts and retail business, across Texas, Arizona and California. María Pía Sojo, also joins as an external wholesaler as well, responsible for key accounts and retail business development in Florida and New York.


Alberta Pensions Services Corp has named Darwin Bozek as President and CEO replacing Vladimir Ahmad, Chief Operating Officer and Interim President and CEO.


Mary McLaughlin, former chief investment officer for the Meat Industry Employees Superannuation Fund has joined Vanguard as a Senior Investment Specialist. She will work with Vanguard’s Equity Index Group and Quantitative Equity Group.


Gardner Capital has appointed Kevin Davis  as Manager of Asset Management, to administer their growing portfolio of existing housing and solar projects and ensure compliance with regulatory programs.


Allianz Global Investors has hired JP Morgan Asset Management‘s Jason Green as Southeast Asia Head of Institutional Business, a newly role at the firm.


Chin Chao, CEO of InnoVen Singapore and Southeast Asia, has been appointed interim CEO of Temasek’s venture debt arm InnoVen Capital replacing Ajay Hattangdi who has stepped down.


UBS Asset Management has hired Rob Worthington as Head, Investment Solutions Specialists Asia Pacific. Worthington joins from the Multi Asset Solutions team of J.P. Morgan Asset Management.


Robeco has appointed Shiro Tsubota as a new President and Representative Director for its Japanese operations, effective immediately, replacing Kikuo Kuroiwa, who will leave once the transition is complete. He will focus on expanding Robeco’s Japan business and continue to offer Robeco’s investment strategies, including quant, sustainability investing, credit, global and emerging markets equities to Japanese investors.


GAM has hired Perhad Merwanji, a UBS portfolio director for its private clients and charities business. Merwanji will report to Kier Boley and Andrew Jenkins, who co-head GAM’s managed portfolio solutions team. He will manage and grow the firm’s assets for high net worth individuals, family offices and charities.


Banking

Deutsche Bank Asia-Pacific has promoted  Atul Jain to Head of Trade Finance and Trade Finance Flow immediate effect. Jain will be based in Singapore and will lead Deutsche Bank’s trade finance business in the region, as well as continuing to develop and execute the regional business strategy.


China Construction Bank Corp has named Tian Guoli (田國立), formerly chairman of Bank of China Ltd. as their new chairman. He succeeds Wang Hongzhang, who will retire. Chen Siqing (陳四清), previously Bank of China’s president, has been promoted to become the bank’s Party Secretary, a Communist party role that typically paves the way for him to take the Chairmanship.

Skybridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci has left the position of White House communications director, little more than a week after taking up the position.

Bill Chu has been appointed as an MD in the China Investment Banking Services team at Goldman Sachs. He was previously Head of Asia Consumer and Retail at Deutsche Bank.


Tahir Ali Wahid, an MD and Head of European Banks and Credit Solutions Coverage Sales at Credit Suisse until late last year, has launched his own advisory boutique, SSP (Strategic Solutions Partnership) Global, offering origination, advisory and capital sourcing advice.


Private Banking / Wealth Management

Peapack-Gladstone Bank has promoted Lawrence Levine to Senior Vice President, Director of Client Experience. He joined Peapack-Gladstone Bank in 2015 and is responsible for analyzing client feedback and to find ways of  enhancing delivery of an exceptional client experience.


DBS (Singapore) have appointed a new Chief Investment Officer for its burgeoning consumer and private banking unit, hiring Hou Wey Fook from Bank of Singapore. He will be responsible for investment strategies including global strategic and tactical asset allocations for DBS’ clients and will lead a team of investment strategists and communications specialists to establish and maintain DBS’ recommended investment strategies, make and publish asset allocation calls as well as thematic trading ideas across asset classes of equities, bonds and currencies.


Rowan Dartington has appointed Steve Smart and Steve Thompson as new business development managers to newly rebranded Rowan Dartington Intermediaries, based in London and Scotland respectively.


Mashreq Bank has named Vipul Kapur as Head of Private Banking replacing Rajesh Malkani who has left to follow another opportunity.

Richard Sherlund the former Barclay’s executive has joined Perella Weinberg Partners as a partner in its Advisory business, where he will help to enhance their technology franchise. He will focus on driving coverage of software clients, as well as broadening the technology franchise and will work with Advisory partners to assist clients across all industries as digital transformation redefines their businesses.

BTIG has appointed former JP Morgan executive Corey Popham as Head of U.S. Cash Equities where he will work with the capital markets, research, and sales and trading divisions to grow new business and expand delivery of products and services to clients.
